1.
+1 I still have one and I love it! Always wanted to add another, but I have an SWR 210 to go with it now, otherwise I would have been very tempted by this!
And I had the very same rig too! Good luck with the sale, a really great sounding rig at a crazy cheap prize!
2. That looks like a hell of a lot of bass for less than a grand! Good luck with the sale. Shame you have to sell such a beauty.
3. I've owned a fair few Wals over the years and, while none have been crazily heavy, a few have been pretty meaty beasts, and I've certainly played a few that were very heavy (i.e. 14lbs). My current Mk III is 10lbs and sits perfectly on my shoulder, although it's still not as light as many of the boutique basses out there these days.
4.
Brook are fantastic and will make you something unconventional if you want it.
+1 on that. My Brook is very conventional, but it was the first fiver they've made and they were fantastic throughout the whole process. I'm currently taking to them about the possibility of a double neck bouzouki/fretless 5!!! Cheers Gareth
5.
It'll probably never happen, though..!
Yeah right. We're all as bad as each other here on BC. PS Sorry to hear about the band business....
6. Another BIG +1 for Iain. I just took one of his Feedback Destroyers and it was in amazing condition. I am very happy and can't recommend him highly enough.
7. The Fylde Magician and Brook Otter are two well known UK makes, although they may be a bit too conventional looking for you? Veillette Guitars in the US are finishing a prototype ABG at the mo that could be more your thing if their acoustic guitars are anything to go by. And a few others are Furch/Stonebridge, Magnus Guitars, Laundhardt are all up there too, and how about the Warwick Alien as well? Cheers Gareth
8. I know it's not a mando, but it's tuned the same way, is a "mini axe", and is folky. And here it is next to its big brother...
9. I don't have a mando (although the guitarist in my band does and plays it regularly) but I do have a tenor guitar, which is a close relative I guess. Mine is the first production one made by Fylde, tuned GDAE, and totally lovely.
10.
Well the prices are going in the right direction for me but just not quite enough.
+1 to that
11. New and boxed. Comes with the optional volume control. Details here Perfect for any four stringed acoustic instrument.
12. Can you feel the love? I can't believe the response to my original post. A few interested parties of course, but the number of PMs saying "WTF are you doing?!" has made me realise that getting rid of this bass would probably be something I'd regret for the rest of my days. So, with apologies to those who were interested in the bass, I think we'll end the feeler status here; please consider the bass withdrawn. Thanks to all Gareth
13.
never thought an all spalted body could look so good...
Which reminds me, the body has an american walnut core.
14.
Gareth.... WTF?!?!?!?!!!! Why would you consider letting this baby go? Everything OK?
Yes, not to worry I'm all okay. I am really not sure I want to sell, but given the lack of gigs and the amount of money tied up in this bass it at least makes sense to test the water. I'm not going to give it up cheaply.
15. Sorry for teasing you folks. Now withdrawn.
16.
I got made redundant for the third time in 12 months today so it seems like I'm probably going to be leaving the UK if I want to escape the shadow of job insecurity. Besides which I potentially face a rental bill for 6 months minimum term.
Sorry to hear that CK.
17. PM sent for the Schroeder.
18.
how loud is it??? can it compete with a loud drummer and enthusiastic guitarist? I like the look of it but need it to handle small/medium gigs!
Where are you located? You're welcome to come and try it out if you are anywhere near Hampshire?
19.
how loud is it??? can it compete with a loud drummer and enthusiastic guitarist? I like the look of it but need it to handle small/medium gigs!
Hard to say as I've only used it at one rehearsal against a drummer, keyboard player and two acoustic guitars going through the PA. It was plenty loud enough for that.
20. I want to buy the mini Schroeder that's for sale on here at the mo, so I need to shift this first. You can get all the details from the EA website. I've only had it since the beginning of January and it is totally mint and ungigged, and it also comes with the very groovy backpack that EA make for it, details of which can be found here. Cheers Gareth
