    It’s a 42mm nut width, so, perfect! What else could I do, I’m helpless when all the ingredients are there: Maple top Y Unlined. Y P width. Y Body P shaped. Y(practically) Decent P pup. Y(definitely) Abstinence? Me? After that list? What were they thinking?

    First is a fretless bitsa from young Beedster of this ere den of iniquity. Then perhaps a 5 string fretless but not sure which one yet, so that doesn’t count. Then a pedal, but I haven’t pulled the trigger yet, so that doesn’t count either. So I’m practically back in again really…

    I’m working on the premise that I’m “preparing” for 2023 abstinence Brendon. Plus my market place subscription came out automatically this week, so it’s @ped fault that I am forced into selling and buying through his coercive behaviour. It all makes sense to me brother.

    Played it again last night, I think it’s too nice to give up on. Will persevere and try again. Excellent condition Spector 6 string. This is a beautiful bass with great build quality, plays great and the Bartolini’s sound beast-tastic mate. Sadly 6 strings are just a step too far these days for my old fingers, so I’m sticking with 4’ & 5’ers. Sale only at this stage. £450 Although I could be tempted with the following: Cheap 5 string Classic guitar an old low spec MacBook But would want minimum £200 cash my way. Happy to meet up within reasonable distance of Bath, Bristol or Bridgwater or will arrange courier if you contribute an added £10 to the price and I’ll cover the rest. More pictures to follow in daylight tomorrow. Will put a new set of EB Slinky nickels on or leave current ones on and include new strings unopened in packet for buyer. It’s set up with low action as I play with a light touch.     Hello! I find the neck profile, nut width and string spacing on these old Korean basses perfect for a 5 string. However the electrics and pups are underwhelming to my ears. So am modding one (including a defret) I’ve recently acquired. What say you, the BC massive? Pickups: My favourite pups are Bartolinis, so likely to replace with some Barts. Will require some widening of cavities as I believe the factory pups are 4 string’ers. Pre amp: My initial thought was for a “drop in” P Retro, but I would need to add a blend pot or switch. Don’t want to spend a fortune, maybe £300 on the parts? Here’s a stock pic:

    I should have been clearer, I’m after a P neck with unlined maple board. Not a fingerboard to fit onto an existing neck. Cheers 😎

    Other than getting one made by one of the many excellent uk Luthiers, I’m having difficulties sourcing one off the shelf. Seems rosewood and ebony are readily available, but not maple boards. Found a Chinese based eBay seller, but never having bought direct I have no idea of quality and what import expenses will be added. 😤😩😭

    So, I ordered and paid for a 6 string bass on New Year’s Eve and received it yesterday. So is that just “making it” before the deadline, or epic early fail? If the former, then I’m in!
