Don't chuck them. There are a number of tech heads here on BC to give them a try. Sam x
  2. Which do you have where?
  3. I've a 5er 34 inch fretless for comparison; my Sub short scale (28.6) ibby 5er has a good sounding low B, it does require a gentle touch tho! Sam x
  4. Brilliant combo, my first ... and this is amazing price. GLWTS Sam x
  5. A light spray does not seem to adversely affect the bottom surface (Apart from helping it stick) And of course a carefully calibrated Z level, but I am preaching to the choir on that! Sam x
  6. I've found lifting on larger prints an issue, I use 3DLAC spray adhesive. It works for 3 or 4 prints and then I need to soap wash/ alcohol spray clean the bed, but I find it is worth the effort. Sam x
  7. I enjoyed my ZX81 (Damn that wobbly RAM extension!), but played with the Comodore PET and Tandy TRS-80 and Superbrain before. I LOVED the instruction set of the Z80! sam x
  8. I'm toying with trying a physical pedalboard after a few years of multi-fx. One of the things I like to do is split the paths so that low frequencies bypass octave/fuzz/chorus, the higher frequencies go through them. How would one achieve this with a physical board? Sam x
  9. What do you mean by accessibility? When I looked into piezo Graphtec seemed the best, sadly not the cheapest. And GraphTech do shipping to the UK. Sam x
  10. DHL managed not to follow my delivery instructions and the package was left outside my flat door yesterday, thankfully a kind neighbour took it in for me as I've had a couple of such deliveries go missing in the past So ... Lovely unit, very wee, construction seems quite solid ... it would not live on a pedalboard, but rather on an amp controlled by the wireless footswitch (Or iPhone app). Connecting both of these was smooth. Looking good! The idea of a p'board in an very tiny device sucked me in (Bad back and all that) and it certainly delivers in this space. Drum generator via headphones sounded nice. I could detect no extraneous noise. But then reality hit NO bass specific stuff at all ... and I can find no news when (if) any might be available. The P1 had these capabilities, so it seems likely (Insane otherwise) Mooer will do the same for the P2. But in it's present incarnation, the tuner cannot deal with the open E let alone an open B. The pitch tracking does not cope with bass either. The drop in battery level when I was messing, leads me to think the 5h quotes are ... optimistic! And they describe it as notabely reduced after only 300 cycles! So .. back in the box and I'll be returning it to Thomann (Who had described it as suitable for guitar or bass). My ultralite rig will need to be my MS-70CDR (Reconfigured with MS-60B effects) or B1Four. Sam x
  11. I am always the slowest in any group I play in. Deploy amp/pedalboard from trolley. bass out of case, tune up, tweak amp; at the end having to pack it all away. Most just unpack their instrument, tune, play. I envy those who can unpack/pack quickly, but never feel ill towards them if they do not help me. Sam x
  12. When everything goes perfectly ... I learn nothing. When I goof up, I blush and just try again ... then reflect on what I need to practice to try to ensure it does not happen next time. Playing bass ... a journey, not a destination Sam x
  13. Welcome to BC @Bramh14, quite possibly the best bass community around! Sam x
  14. OMG, just spotted this blast from the past. During my first degree (Attempt, 3 years in medical school learned me that I did not want to study medicine!) in '82, I was very involved in the computer club, eventually the Head of School IT chap gave me a key to his office and I spent many enjoyable hours on the Apple Lisa in there ... dial up acoustic coupler to this and that and some dev tinkering. Sam x
  15. But where is the fun in that! LOVING this build! Sam x
  16. A real old school IT geek ... me too! I can remember using punched paper tape to store/upload programs LOVE it! Sam x
  17. I use their passive Vexpress pedal, but only as an expression to drive MIDI controller. Build quality, size, weight all good. Sam x
  18. My poor back would not cope ... I aim to go as small as possible (Multi-FX) and try to get the best tone I can. Sam x
  19. Not sure about this (It seems to have no bass specific stuff like the P1), but with a 30 day return from Thoman I thought it was worth having a go as I love small and light stuff (Ooooo Matron). Yet to arrive, go DHL go! I will report the good/bad/ugly when it arrives! Sam x
  20. Thanks Rob. In a recent MOD forum thread about LV2 plugins templating, FalkTX suggested using CMake for it's cross platform support; I've an M1 system as well as a Pi5 and also a Intel Mac Mini and I thought this was a good way to go, but bugger me ... it is a steeper learning curve than LV2 itself! Undaunted, I'm working my way through it following https://cgold.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ I'm able to make a simple HelloWorld style thing; it's the integration of using external libs, of course LV2 being key, that is giving me pain Thank you for the VM offer, at present I've more CPU power than I need ... it is brain power/understanding that I need ... but IME the penny will eventually drop! lol Sam x
  21. Thanks @SumOne! Tho Bugg3r! I've just hit the button on a P2 + Pedal from Thomann. I've a B1Four & B1XFour ... they are OK, but the P2 is just so small! Oh well, I'll give it a go and with the Thomann return policy am not too worried if it turns out to be unsuitable. Sam x
  22. Cmake is what I'm trying and it is messing with my head! Examples on the web are OK for a simple project, but trying to incoporate external libs (such as LV2) is tripping me up big time! I'm sure it will 'give in' to my efforts, but at present it is like wading through treacle in the wintertime! BTW the LV2 Drummer in a Box I am calling 'Animal!' Sam x
