  1. Currently either Spector 4-string or Shuker 5-string into Genz-Benz Shuttle 9.2 into Barefaced Super 12T. Overjoyed with the way it all sounds and in no hurry to change a thing.
  2. Not yet... I need a gap between gigs.
  3. Ska band a variety of t shirts (current favourite is a wild tie-dye I got in Grand Cayman) with a b&w checked shirt on top; either black jeans or patterned shorts depending on time of year; trilby or pork pie hat; b&w checked Vans. Daft party band I have 3 different outfits... 'Peaky Blinder' (grandad shirt, tweed waistcoat, watchchain, bakerboy hat, etc), 'Australian Idiot' (ridiculous Hawaiian shirt, cargo shorts, huge boots, hat with dangly corks) and generic US footballer (Dallas Cowboys shirt, white leggings, inflatable helmet). They all look f**king stupid but that's the whole idea.
  4. I've had an extensive fiddle about with the DIP switches. Still experimenting. They're both Off at the moment but that's sure to change as I keep fiddling.
  5. And so that's what I'm now doing. New 35P4 and 35DC are on their way to me now 😀

  7. I'd probably keep the original HZ pickups, and re-fit them if I move the bass on (which at the moment I think is highly unlikely).

  9. This is my favourite Level 42 song. Not a slap or pop in sight, just a beautiful song and a simple message, "I want love in a peaceful world". Don't we all. And from the same album, this. Another of my very favourite Level 42 songs, and again entirely free of any bass acrobatics. Just a lovely song about searching for The One.
  10. Oh my word, this man's voice ❤️ Oh my word, this woman's voice ❤️
  11. My preamp is the EMG BTS, I'm happy with it. TBH my main driver for the pickup change is to get more beef and aggression especially from the neck pickup.
  12. I'm going to change the pickups in my Spector Q4 - it currently has EMG HZ soapbars and they're ok, but I want to swap them out for something a bit more... well, more. I've looked at Aguilars and Delanos but they're well out of my reach £-wise, and active EMGs seem to be the Spector thing so I'm going with them. The 35DC is my current favourite for the bridge, but the 35TW is also a possibility. For the neck, I'm quite interested in the 35P4. A good ballsy P tone is ideal for much of the stuff I play, and the P4 seems like the perfect candidate. Or would I be better with the reversed-coils P4X? Any experience-based advice welcome.

  14. Yes, for me it's the playing/singing that's the most impressive aspect of his playing. Something as complicated as To Be With You Again, and he sings over it AND makes it look easy. How? Great playing. At Bath his fretless work on Words was lovely, I really wish he'd been further up in the mix.
  15. I see that as exasperation, not anger. Entirely justified exasperation, if you ask me.
  16. This alone would infuriate me beyond words, and make me walk without looking back. It's not even an amateur attitude, it's a disrespectful one.
  17. This just popped up on my feed. I'm not a golfer, but even if I was, I don't think I'd be in a rush to play this course... image.png.6efac375b762a74cd35a1c186b2454af.png

He:  "Just popping out for a few holes dear!"

She:  "Okay darling, I'll have your doughnut cushion nice and warm for you when you pop back in."

Golfers:  Our balls are dimpled for extra pleasure.

So the OP asks a question about his bass, and your answer is that it's total crap. Yeah, I bet he's overwhelmed with gratitude. 🙄
  19. Best news I've heard all year.

It's a great result BUT we must remain wary. It wouldn't surprise me if they instead quietly closed the offices one by one while using distraction to avoid publicity.

I’m pleased about this. Whilst they - going from reports - aren’t used much they are pretty essential to those that do use them.

Fortunately, I've managed to avoid using rail services for the past few years.

It occurs to me, though, that perhaps they should look to attract customers (like me) back rather than save costs.
