  1. Yeah his stuff is crazy cool, I stumbled on the site looking up info on old peavey amps. People were talking about how they love the sound of certain amps, but not the weight - so someone pointed out John K had made the sound of said amps, in pedal form.
  2. No that’s fine, I was only asking about that one in particular as it’s a personal fave... I have been looking at other ebs pedals recently (and owned a multicomp before, which I see has also been updated) ive not checked the ones you mentioned but would be interested to hear from anyone who has, to know what exactly has been updated.
  3. Cheers, yeah I think you’re probably right - it’s just one of those things where there’s a new version of something I really like, so I feel like I should probably try it. I’ve seen a couple crop up for sale and it’s tempting - I excitedly went to watch a video of it and was left a bit underwhelmed, seeing as I already have the studio edition
  4. I love ebs stuff and have the ‘studio version’ of the octabass. I didn’t even realise there was a newer one (they look similar - aside from an extra knob/different colour knobs) anyone grabbed one of these and able to offer some input? The one I have is one of my favourite octave pedals for sure, so I’m intrigued by the new version. I also own 3 boss oc2’s, valeton oc-10, sub n up mini, joyo xvi and a bass synth wah that does a good octave - a real mixed bag but gives an idea of what I like (and the fact I’m a little octave obsessed!) The updates/changes are a little strange to me though. The tone knob seems fair enough, but from watching a video, it’s not doing much more than the switch on mine does? They’ve changed the function of the switch to make it more accurate tracking in either high or low registers... but I’ve never really had an issue with tracking... so that doesn’t sway me. anyone buy one after owning a previous version and been blown away? Or shall I just stick with what I have?

  6. Thanks, yeah agreed, I always use a pair of 4x10 gk cabs with a gk head... but recently I’ve been wanting to try some more vintage sounds with old peavey amps and cabs. I love the look of a 2x15 as well, looks like it really means business! no I decided against lining it for now after reading so many conflicting opinions etc I probably need to research more before attempting it
  7. That’s better! I finally got around to finishing this off. I used Marshall grill cloth as it seems to be the closest thing here in the UK. Put a metal logo on (I already had a stash of these). Cleaned it thoroughly - turns out soap and water does a very good job (thanks guys!) providing you use a scrubbing brush and then rinse off the soapy water with clean water afterwards. Replaced the rickety castors for some smooth black ones. replaced the dodgy jack socket with a switchcraft one. Replaced corners with NOS peavey corners from eBay... I could only find the front type, so don’t look around the back yet, it ain’t so pretty. All in all I’m happy, it works well, it looks cool and still roadworn enough without being gross but best of all it no longer smells of a billion cigarettes!!
  8. I bought a pedal from Neil in what was probably my best experience using basschat! I posted a wanted ad, Neil responded, great price, sale agreed, shipped to me and I was playing it... all in 24hours! I do love this forum and Neil is a credit to it! I certainly hope to deal with you again at some point

  10. Much like the last time I posted one of these “what’s this then?” posts, I’m pretty sure it’ll be obvious to the more trained eyes out there but... these bass tuners, there’s something about them that makes them stand out. They’re old, heavier than the usual/typical fender copy types I’ve seen and the keys have a weird shaping to the edges I’ve never seen!? anyone know who they’re made by or what they’re off?
  11. I did consider this when I was learning many years ago... mainly because I saw a rubber thimble thing at my grans house and thought “I wonder how I could relate this odd object to music in some way” - I never actually tried it but maybe that kinda thing would help?!
  12. Yeah, I guess that’s the hope it might encourage people to get sucked in and bid more than they normally would... I always set an amount in my head where I’m like “I’d be very happy to get that for this much” - anything beyond that and the regret would be too strong and whatever it was would be going straight back on eBay!
  13. Me neither... it’s always irritated me. I see why to some degree but it still ultimately seems unnecessary I also can’t decide if it’s worse that they expect you to guess what figure they’ve set as a reserve, or the listings that openly say “reserve is set at...” - both annoying in their own way!
  14. I'm sure this will be of interest to some one here (apologies if you were trying to keep it quiet!) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143763833411?ul_noapp=true I've already messaged about postage and it's a firm no, so i'm out. Enjoy!
  15. Hey all, no update really other than I think you've all helped me understand that it may not be a mod and that its supposed to be a tone pot... but in either case it doesn't work. I'm gonna strip it all apart and test everything to see if I can work out what is wrong. Man I wish I hadn't given away a box of spare pots and other parts last year ("I'll never need these" - I for some odd reason decided)
  16. If you don’t mind that would be really useful! I’m not getting much joy on a google search (just lots of threads on forums such as this, with people asking for wiring diagrams)
  17. Ah ha! Yeah I tried looking up the bass wiring, stingray wiring... didn’t think of the pickup itself, nice one!
  18. Hey all, I bought this bass from here years ago for my sister when she was learning, she’s now asked me to sell it for her, but I’ve just tested it and although it works the middle control knob does nothing!? I opened it up and there were two wires (red and white from pickup) inside soldered together and wrapped with electrical tape... so it’s some form of bypass/mod by the previous owner, that she never noticed. I’m guessing that makes it the volume control for the other coil? I’ve taken pics of the pots and how it’s wired at the moment and hopefully someone can spot how to put it back to its original wiring? I’m in no way familiar with musicman style basses and although I can use a soldering iron, my knowledge of what I’m actually doing is severely lacking! any help greatly appreciated and if anyone happens to own one that hasn’t been tinkered and can provide me with a picture to copy, I’ll be most grateful! cheers!

  20. Yeah, I saw that, it was on sale locally to me... £40... with an amp. I messaged and about 3 days later I chased again, “sorry I’ve had lots of interest... you’re nowhere near first in line” - of course. Ah well, it was an interesting little mystery
  21. Interesting. I’m kinda glad it’s stumped everyone so far, I was half expecting the first reply to be “it’s a ‘..........’ obviously” and I’d feel daft.
  22. Yeah it just seems weird to me that a company I hadn’t heard of would go to the efforts of having a logo on there... but maybe I’m overthinking it!
  23. Just saw a p bass clone come up local to me, no name on the headstock but this logo on the neck plate? I’ve never seen it before... any ideas?
