Bands you adore that no one else has ever heard of...
kingforaday replied to TrevorR's topic in General Discussion
My current fave bands are Booze & Glory, The Last Resort and The Old Firm Casuals but I`d be pretty sure not many know much about any of them.
Cool, I wasn't expecting to see those names pop up when I clicked on this! I'm playing with a band at the moment that are going over to Germany in April to do a little tour... and one of the dates is support to Booze & Glory... and the other guys in the band played with Old Firm Casuals, last year I think. That was the moment I started to take their Oi band seriously... "You're playing with Lars from Rancid?... Nice" -
Dan just posted me a free (yeah, as in FREE) scratch plate for the Peavey T40 I'm piecing together. Massively appreciated mate and hopefully next time we do business, you'll actually get some cash out of me!
Strikes me as being a bit of over engineering for the sake of it. For many years (until I got a Pedaltrain and stuck a Fuel Tank on it a year or so ago) I got on perfectly well using either a Boss TU or Polytune pedal and a daisy chain cable from the 9v out. Sure, won't easily power heavy draw and 18v pedals but if you have a few of those on the board then you probably want to be looking a a better power supply than those ones...
I'd never even considered that... no idea why... I think I just presumed the tuner would power one other pedal only
-
Yeah, that's exactly what I was afraid of. Definitely a very cool idea but if it's too noisy it's not much use!
-
I've noticed these a few time while looking through sales etc and was wondering if anyone has taken the plunge and tried one? I'm generally of the opinion that anything trying to do too many things at once is gonna fall short somewhere but there are of course some examples of pedals that do a couple of things really well. This seems like a really simple way of saving space on my nano+ pedal board... However I've just bought a Korg Pitchblack so it seems a bit daft to be looking at replacing it already! This type: https://www.thomann....l8VHxoC1z3w_wcB http://www.joyoaudio...tic-pedal-tuner and this type: http://www.dawsons.c...tuner-psu-pedal http://www.gear4musi...wer-Supply/1NOF https://www.bax-shop...DX6dhoCDIbw_wcB There seems to be a bunch of different ones of each design, from different companies (they look similar apart from the paint job so presumably from the same place initially?
I know you said , No Jazz profile necks but what about a wider jazz , Would you consider a trade for this ? http://img.photobuck...zpsadslkmpg.png 70's classic jazz .... the profile is different to a modern C its more of a handful , just back from Charlie Chandlers and strung with rounds at the moment , Actual measurement wise the Modern C is about " 2mm narrower front to back to this 70's profile.
Cheers for the offer but I think I've just about learned my lesson with Jazz basses - They're just not me I'm afraid
What is the neck profile out of interest?
Skinny at the nut like a jazz... I'm not really sure of the terminology or anything regarding the description of neck profiles... hence I bought this and an Aerodyne Jazz and then realised, that although they're really nice and very comfortable sat down they just feel really fiddly to me when stood up. I'm used to Peavey T40's and I should probably learn to stick to what I know!

Yamaha BB1024X - Vintage White Bass Guitar with high quality Yamaha padded gigbag - £600 I've owned this bass from new and I'm fairly sure I've only used it for about an hour, as such it is pretty much mint condition - The only damage I can find is on the through body stringing one of the metal string guide pieces, somehow a bit of the finish has flaked off (see pics) Reason for selling is, as mentioned, it just isn't getting played.
Trade for Fender Pawn Shop Bass VI - Candy Apple Red? - pix available?
Hey, Cheers for the offer but that's not something I can imagine getting used much by me - and I'm trying to cut down on the amount of instruments I never seem to play! I've put this up on Ebay now as I noticed one listed at £795 - So I figured I'd put mine up for slightly less and with the option of best offers and see what happens... Obviously this advert still stands and if it sells here, or I do get offered something I can't resist as a trade, I'll cancel that Ebay listing
-
I've just checked the weight of this on the digital scales I borrowed from work, it's showing 4kg 8.9lbs
How about a Passive PRS SE Kestrel in black with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders? Not as slim as a Jazz profile but still a very playable neck
You see, that's what I like about trade offers... I'd never heard of these! Just looked it up and I don't think it's for me but thanks for the offer
-
Bump - anymore trade offers? I've realised from the basses people have offered that I have incredibly boring/conventional tastes - only really interested in black, white or natural finishes, 4 string only, passive, definitely not a jazz neck profile (too skinny) - other than that lengthy list of criteria, I'm open to offers!

Spike bought a wooly mammoth clone from me, easy pleasant transaction and quick payment. I would happily sell to/buy from again
