2. Hey did you notice any differences with the valve changes?
3. Aww FFS! I know Fender get a lot of sh*t for not doing different designs and then they do this. Fender just keep punting out P and J basses. Terrible!
4. Good to hear you've got it set up to suit your needs. I love the sound TK got on those recordings. Big fat tone!
5. I use a fender bassman 100 combo for the small gigs and its got a tilt back feature. 4ohm speaker means you get the full 100w out of the combo. Its a great sounding wee amp, used it to record an album along with its D.I. out. Sweepable mids etc so you can make its a bit more mid forward for monitoring purposes if needed. It's solidly built and has an eminemce speaker! No longer made but well worth a try if you can find one. Its this one.... 6. Getting more of a feel for it now Mike? How's it sounding into the amp?

Sold Thanks for all the interest.
8. Just playing devils advocate but I thought power amp rigs were all about transformers and heft rather than light weight class d power sections? I'll get my coat. In saying that I'm just about to rehearse with the TTE 500 cause tonight's rehearsal room is a pain to get into so light weight wins the rig choice this time round!
9. The Aguilar does appeal but maybe that Oct Mini is worth a look.
10. At about 3:08 in this video is something i was thinking about..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WI5Eg5Whu-8
11.
Been interesting reading. Doing some new stuff with a guy who's got a club/jazzy background and looking at having an octave effect to recreate some of his stuff. I'll be checking out the video clips later with headphones.
Cheers Andy

13. Flats sound great on a jazz. Remember your amp has a treble control so you can dial back in the top end but flats will give you a different version on that back pick up burp.
14. Err I'm not suing him 😀
15. Basses PZ5 -with flats 63 AVRI - with flats Cab Tecamp M212 Amp and Pre Fender MB1200 Aguilar DB680 Pedal Board Basswitch using a Cali76 in the always on series fx loop FEA Photon FuzzII in the Mix fx loop with clean blend TU-2 tuner The rig sounds great and its very easy to adjust the tone on the fly to suit the on stage mix or an odd room. The 680 has a Jensen transformer on the DI which works really well. My wee pedal board gives me the ability to go direct without the rig if needed on a small gig or gear share type gigs. The live rig is great, always enough headroom, clear articulate sound and the basses feel great to play. I have a small 100w Fender combo for smaller gigs when stage volume doesn't need to be loud and it works a charm as a monitor when using PA support out front. Sometimes I'll change one bass to rounds depending on what I'm doing with certain bands but live it's 99% flats.
16. So sk8.... How's the little black box working out for ya?
17.
At the risk of ruining a perfectly good witch hunt. . . . Not twice the price. If my maths is right, the TH500 at approx £819 is slightly over 30% more expensive than the TH350 at approx £600.
No witch hunt just observation.
18. Twice the price for twice the features but how much does a wee fan cost, a speakon connector and an fx loop I'm sure the TH500 sounds great but it does feel pricy in comparison if the two essentially sound the same.
19. Wasn't radio always a bit biased in what it played and was as much an influence on what people could hear/was being bought as much as reflecting what was being bought? I recall back when Gorillaz released their first album. My mate got all annoyed as the singles were remixes which were more uptempo than the album tracks. I'm in no position to say if that's true or not but I recall him getting quite annoyed!
20. We were waiting to start a gig at the weekend and a song came on the house pa. Singer/guitar player half knew it, I joined in and bluffed my way through it and had it down in a few bars. The crowd, many of which were ladies, were all singing away and having a great old time. Turns out it was an ES song. Then I heard about his current 'chart rampage' and we may do one of his tunes. People seem to love him. I'm still annoyed at him ripping off Brother Marvin on that terrible song a few years ago but the one I heard at the weekend was OK from a "give them what they want" set list.
21.
I don't think so. Flatwounds do though.
+1 They do really make a difference. I just always feel more comfortable on a bass with flats. A guy I'm starting to work with tried out my bass last week and fell in love with the feel immediately!
22. Hey guys I'm after the TX model of this and one has become available so this is a SALE ONLY thread unless you have a TX you wish to trade (messages by PM only as per the rules thanks!) This is from the limited edition models produced a couple of years back which has a Germanium fuzz added which allows you to get some filth right from the comp. I've used it maxed for the Muse style effect which give a really tasty compressed, even dirty tone. The filth can be 'dialed in' with a control knob on the rear of the pedal - it does have a nice taper and can be added to give just a bit of warmth to the sound, whatever the source. The fuzz isn't foot-switchable, you'd kinda set it and have it at that particular setting. Great feature for recording when you side chain in a dirty comp for drums, works well on keys and can do amazing things for a guitar tone! Runs off 9v or 18v. I use my comp as an always on 'tool' rather than an 'effect' in my current bands so I find I'm using this fuzz function less than I have in other projects. Pictures included show some scratches on the casing where its lived side-by-side to some other pedals on my pedaltrain. Notice the box shares the stamped Ltd Ed number on the Cali- maybe the image isn't that clear but its there! The official blurb is below: Limited Edition Germanium Transistor Option Strictly limited to 100 units, the Cali76 Germanium adds an awesome new flavour to the Cali range. Combining the Cali76’s ultra-fast dynamics and transparent tone with a 1960s-style Class-A germanium transistor output stage, it perfectly captures the rich harmonics, smooth clipping and musical compression that defined the sound of the era. Germanium circuitry – when properly designed and implemented – delivers a stunning blend of warmth and grit. Using the unique variable headroom control at the rear, you can dial in exactly the desired amount of break-up and colouration, taking you all the way from ultra-clean transparent compression to lo-fi grunge! Special Features The Cali76 Germanium offers some highly desirable tonal and connectivity options. The top-mounted controls are identical to the stock Cali76 and the compressor circuitry operates in the same way. But at the output, this limited-edition pedal features a fully balanced Class-A output stage, employing premium NOS germanium transistors, for extra grunt, harmonics and saturation, all completely controllable via the rear-mounted variable headroom knob. The Cali76 Germanium is equally at home driving a guitar amp or the input of your DAW or console. The pedal automatically switches to a balanced output when you plug in a TRS jack, allowing it to interface happily with mixers, preamps and audio interfaces. Inserting an unbalanced guitar cable will configure the unit as a standard guitar pedal, with a conventional single-ended output.
