1. Slightly late but www.thebandjunction.co.uk It's pretty quiet at the moment as I have only just put it online but covers musicians, deps, studios, pa hire etc all in one place. Completely free to use, no ad's, no spam, no catches when replying to messages etc All listings gratefully received!!!!
2. Last night was; You know I'm No Good - Amy Winehouse Gravity - John Mayer Oblivion - Terrorvision Locked out of Heaven - Bruno Mars Locked out of Heaven as now become my new fav, simple but great!!
3. I'm in Stevenage, roads are all fine just about an inch of snow about. Its just started coming down again though! Great place to play the Red Lion, sure you'll have a good one!
4. Thanks, In touch with Nick and going to do longer lessons to make the travel worthwhile :-) Yea I saw that, unfortunately it falls on the same day as I've got tickets for Green Day so not going to be able to make it
5. Thanks for the reply The Greek much appreciated. Peterborough is a bit far out but St Albans is only 20mins away so that could be perfect. Thanks again :-)
6. Hi all, as the topic title really!!! Anyone know of a good tutor in the North Herts area? Thanks
7. Awesome idea! Count me in if it gets over this way
8. Like it! Just listened to Filth as well, great tune :-)
9. Yea thats the place. You play against the side wall but pretty much end up in the crowd!
10.
We do indeed. Next gig at the Vic in Hitchin. BTW you did well to fit in the alcove at Molly's. We had to move furniture and move into the area to the left of the entrance as you come in the front door. We are at the Red Lion Stevenage on 1st December. Last time we played there was a short notice cancellation by another band and we seemed to go downa storm so we are really looking forward to returning there.
Yea its a bit of a squeeze in there but some careful adjustments and the guitarist not minding being smacked with my headstock every so often and its all good! Always a great crowd in the Red Lion, thankfully weve another couple booked there for next year.
11. Here's a vid of us at Molly Malones and me hiding in the back as normal! Rothers - We play at a lot of the same places by the looks of it!! Molly's, Red Lion Biggleswade & Stevenage.
12. I went with the ER15's (http://www.acscustom.com/uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=108&Itemid=88) after starting to suffer with mild tinitus. Wish I'd got them earlier now to be honest as they go everywhere with me now. It's an odd feeling to start with but you soon get used to it, I wouldn't play without them now.
13.
That's really great work by your daughter. Bass looks ace. I'm going to go the whole hog though, its not a sacred bass, just a bass so I'm not precious about it. I really like the idea of an expert job like this done by someone you know, you have a talented daughter!
Thanks, it came out far better than I expected to be honest!! Now the rest of the band want her to make them scratchplates as well, we'll be sponsered by Marvel at this rate!
14. +1 on doing something thats easily reversable. I got a cheap scratchplate for my jazz and gave it to my daughter and told her to go mad on it! This is what she came up with, so my original tort plate is in storage now!
15.
I always visit pubs ask if the landlord/lady is in then buy a pint and chat. You are your own best advert.
Exactly this. A visit in person goes a long way when trying to get gigs. I always visit on a mon or Tues evening as it's generally quiet and they have time to chat.
16. Bought a Wounded Paw pedal from Bassdude. Arrived in perfect condition as described, would not hesitate to deal with again :-) I now have a new toy to annoy our guitarists with! Thanks Don
17. Yep I was there as well. I thought they were excellent although i'm still reserving judgement on Josh, give it time and it'll probably be like he's always been there! Knebworth as a venue is a bit of a nightmare, its ok when you are in but trying to get out is not good. Luckily i'm only walking distance from there so just walked there and back, if I had to drive and park i'd probably have second thoughts on going tbh.
18. Great idea for a thread, some great stuff posted so far Here's my current covers band Khorosho; http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Khorosho/171681939513248 http://www.khorosho.co.uk
19. Off the top of my head would the start of the SHA riff not blend in with the beginning of Times Like These by the Foo's? Both great pub songs!
20. Sunday morning bump for pics Will be posted boxed, just not in the right EBS box!!
21. Yep ive been a bit lazy on the picture front!! Out gigging tonight but i'll do some first thing in the morning
