  9. Lightning Bolt in action - usually you can't see what they are doing this well as they don't play on stages and the crowd around them is a giant mosh pit; watch the bass players feet, that's how to do pedal changes.

  13. I've said before here that I have one and love it; tried a US one at the time didn't like it and was more than double what I paid for my MIM. Only thing was the I changed the bridge for a Gotoh 201 as the E string saddle grub screw kept working loose. New bridge cost £30. I would agree the preamp can be a bit harsh but I quite like that and have it flat most of the time anyway.

You'll need to find a way that suits. You do need to keep it enjoyable though IMO

Still do plenty though, you can tour etc you just have to plan it properly and have a supportive family, I took unpaid leave to tour a few years back. I actually believe that this is the way it will be now for many orginal bands; do some kind of day job to pay the bills and do the music for your soul. There is no money in normal CD/music sales anymore, I don't know exact figures but I know the 7,500 copies of the album we put out in 1992 would now get us very nice chart position rather then the just grazing the top 175 we actualy got then, also when we signed in 1991 the average development deal - that's for people who usually didn't even get to make record was £250,00- I believe those deals aren't around anymore, I try not to have any dealings with the music industry these days if I can help it.   16. Signing to Music for Nations and so enabling me to do music as my job; getting the run of their stock room, recording at Lynford Manor, Jacobs, Eden, Orinoco and Loco. Playing the Marquee and getting our first glowing NME review. Releasing an album and seeing it in a special display in Oxford Street HMV and the single from it reaching the lofty heights of 136. Being asked to the pub by John Lydon and John McGeogh, PiL were recording in the studio next door (and being to scared to go. This was all in the early 90s, so slightly later remixing the last ever Boo Raldleys single was really cool. I don’t make my living from music anymore but a few years ago the band I was in were invited to support Lowgold on a small UK tour which was really good fun; the highlight of that being 400 people in a packed Dingwalls going mad for us. One last one was getting to play with Damo Suzuki and Makoto Kawabta earlier this year and still being scared to speak to my heroes. Never got to go on Top of the Pops though which is actually all I ever wanted

I do lots of staring out at the audience - in fact I've a bit of a rep. for it, do the scaning the top of peoples heads quite a bit too; I like the fact it can be quite intimidating and confrontational as I don't like playing and being ignored. I've always felt anyone who gets on stage is a bit of a show-off at heart and so wants to be the centre of attention. In the past done lots of running about as I was sort of the focal pont of the band; live the show is everything, miss a note and it's gone some people may notice but it's gone and forgotten a minute later, well it is in the type of stuff I've always played anyway. Too much running and jumping about can of course be very irritating and look like the Horse of the Year show. I reckon the key is being comfortable with yourself on stage trying too hard always looks desperate I've always practised in front of mirrors and worked out parts when I can look up. Recently I've been doing a far more improv. gigs and do much more neck watching so try and find point where I can play something fairly simple and look around at the "crowd" (mostly empty room mostly)
