  1. Thanks so much! It was indeed great fun to record ánd mix.
  2. From left to right, top row: De Gier Bebop 5 (2013), van der End JB5 (2000), Fender Precision (1971), Fender Jazz (1966), De Gier Soulmate (2019), Dingwall Combustion 5 (2018). In the stands: Fender Standard Jazz fretless (2001), Blade B2 Tetra Bass (2001), Fender Justin Meldal-Johnsen signature Mustang (2019). On the couch: Yamaha BB N5II (2001).
  3. Added a stunning Andre van der End built fiver to the collection (upper row, second from the left) so dragged everything on the couch again... I'd never expected to have 10 basses again at any point. Yet, here we are.
  4. Jazz number five in the house!

Oh dear. I'm up to 8 now.....

      Don't know how that happened?

To be fair, 2 are self builds from bits I found hanging around.

I am currently at 10 basses total, half of which are Jazzes. I really really like Jazz Basses ;)

Currently at five Jazzes, after the addition of the van der End yesterday.
  6. So I've been a fan of the basses by Dutch luthier André van der End for about 20 years now, and have never owned one. And then this baby and I crossed paths... She's from 2000, electronics as of yet unknown (I think the pickups have been made by André himself), amazingly pretty body. It needs some new strings and a good setup, but boy is she amazing. Also makes a pretty good pair with her 13 years younger cousin from De Gier: So that makes bass number 10 for me. I'll post a new family photo tomorrow😁
  7. Going to check out a pretty amazing bass for a pretty amazing price next Monday...wish me luck.

  8. Still very, very curious about these basses.
  9. Our guitar player/singer mixed it! But listening back to my track, he barely did anything Soooo thanks!
  10. The new single of my americana band Violet Hour is out! You can order the debut album at violethourband.com

  13. Ohhhh you bought it! I was seriously considering it. That thing has sooooo much mojo! Amazing! Can't wait to hear and feel it someday. Man. What a bass.
  14. What's better than one bass? Seven basses!
  15. I'm currently at 3 guitars: From left to right: 2018 Fender American Performer Telecaster, 2019 Eastman E1OM, 1959 Höfner. The Höfner is a bit of a story: I got it for super cheap from a friend. The neck needed a reset (so it got one). The knobs aren't original of course, and neither are the pickups: the neck pickup is a 1970's DeArmond humbucker, the bridge pickup is a 1970's Gibson T-Top. It feels and sound amazing, but a bit fragile at the same time.
  16. I've uploaded a few covers lately. Not very spectacular, but fun anyway.
  17. I used to be at one Precision, but now at two! Picked up my brand new De Gier Soulmate last week. Custom options are an amázing Candy Apple Red finish, lollipop tuners (first De Gier bass éver to have lollipops), dots & binding (first Soulmate to have so). Fralin pickup. And it's brilliant.
  18. Thanks! That's what I was aiming for😁 It wasn't cheap but this bass is really something else.
  19. So last year I wanted to buy a new bass, partly for tax reasons but mainly just because I wanted to. So after very, very short deliberations with myself I decided. Sander de Gier was going to build me a brand new Soulmate; I already own a Bebop 5 string and that's a great bass too, so what could possibly go wrong? The specs were pretty easy for me: I wanted dots & binding, lollipop tuners, a sixties sound and a Candy Apple Red finish. I ordered it in September and picked it up today. And what. A. Bass. It's hands down one of the best Precisions I've ever played. The neck, the sustain, the sound... Everything is just perfect. It's a great add to my '71 Precision. Sander told me it's the first Soulmate ever with dots & binding, and possibly the first De Gier bass ever with lollipop tuners. I'd love to make some family pics but I'm currently in the middle of moving so that has to wait.
  20. I'm going to do online bass lessons through Skype & Zoom! Hit me up to make an appointment :) Fretless, slapping, any technique, any style.
