1. I've been playing active basses for the most part: Sadowsky JJ and PJ, Sandberg PM, Trace Elliot, G&L L2500, Lakland w. J-Retro, MusicMan SR5, Spector w. EMG etc. But since I got my first passive P five string, I quit them all. There something in the dynamics of a pure passive bass that can't be replicated in a 9-18v on bord preamp. I talked to some preamp (on board and outboard) builders about this and there seems to be a consensus that you'd need MORE than 18 volts to get the same amount of headroom with an active pre. Anyway, my fave combination is either a Nordstrand VP5 or a Reverend Rumblefish 5L (both passive) throug a Basswitch by RMI/Lehle: all the headroom in my hands and very precise tone control at my feet.
2. Sold my Boss OC-2 to Rory. Everything went smoothly Thanks a lot!

5. Did you PUSH the Flat/Shape button? A lot of first time ABM users are making the mistake of engaging the Shape by NOT pushing that button and producing a lot of low lows, losing all the definition and going very hard on the speakers.....
6. wow!

9. Having become a dedicated Walkabout player, some amps must go. 10.
.....Also as far as I know, they still cannot sell any Markbass with UK spec power supplies, so if it goes wrong it has to go back to Germany... (this old chestnut:- Markbass amps/combos are manufactured to be sold and used in the country of purchase, and they are factory preset to that country’s voltage. Due to homologation issues, the voltage may not be changed.)
Is there a difference in real life? What about other brands? I sold and bought amps from/to the UK and nothing ever went wrong.
11.
..... The difference to the previous one is incredibly subtle, just a re-labelling of the "level" knobs.
Does this mean, that also with the 2015 model we have no direct "on the fly" access to the master level?
12. Are they 2015 models available in stores, yet?
13.
Thanks for these answers. I was aware of the whole "mid cutting through" philosophy, but am shocked at just how noticeable this actually can be! Second bass was so loud in the room it was a bit disruptive!
Maybe the room was amplifying certain frequencies predominant in the sound the second bass way louder than those of the first bass who has less of these freqs. I have a similar issue in one of my band's rehearsal rooms. When I play a C, it sounds very loud in that room, whereas the A sounds very quiet. On the meter (an in other rooms) every note is equally strong.
14. +1 on the Beta, as I can't get to like the baked hi-mid boost with all the DG pedals. My VT is always on as well on the verge of breakup. The Pork Loin and Tech21 Leeds do also pair very well with the VT.
15. After playing 1x12" and 2x12" setups exclusively for years, my main setup is a 2x MarkBass NY151RJ stack.... and it sounds great....
16. Ernie Ball Cobalt and Dunlop Super Bright Nickel considered
17. Looking to swap these DR steel strings Low Riders and HiBeams (45 - 65 - 85 - 105 - 130) for their nickel equivalent (Low Rider Nickel, Sunbeams, Pure Blues) Strings have just been out of the box for pics, otherwise brand new and uncut.
18.
I always love the sound of a Stingray. But when I play one, I just find them too unruly; far too much presence in the mix.
+1
19. Aguilar db410!
20. I have no real alltube amp at my disposal. But people do comment on the Mesa Walkabout sounding VERY alltubey. In my ear it sounds great! In case you are using the Ampeg SVT, do make sure you'll get the 4 ohm cab!
