Picks

I play in a rock covers band so I need to use picks 90% of the time. I've been experimenting with different woods, felt leather, brass, bone etc. Incredible the difference in tones available through different materials. What's your fave??
2. Volume pedal is in good condition, some velcro on bottom. Wanting to trade for (not sell) for a Dunlop Bass Wah or similar wah pedal
3. Do you still have the envelope filter?
4. My Markbass Little Rocker gives me overdrive when needed. I've also got VLE and VPF options. Here's my board. The compulator gives an extra bit of bite in certain tracks.
5. Are there many of you guys out there who don't use any pedalboard effects at all?

Thanks for the response Pinball. So basically no loss of volume or bass frequencies if dialed to suit? and can be used for bass or guitar?
This. If you try it in a band situation you will notice your bottom drop out when you engage the pedal. The bass version does not do this but be warned it is a very different 'wah' sound to the guitar version - the bass one leaves the low end clean and only applies the effect to certain frequencies. A quick Youtube should give you some idea. If you love the effect of the standard wah but want to use it in a band setting you could always split your signal so you always have a clean tone running alongside the wah. There are also some wahs out ther that work very well with both guitar and bass - the Ibanez Weeping Demon springs to mind.
Good idea splitting the signal, must learn how to do that.

What i have noticed is the guitar wah wah drops in volume when engaged and you lose bottom end which is fairly predicatble really

I will experiment. I've just come back to the musical fold after a long time out. Coincidentally we've just dropped You Really Got Me from the set

You're right Tuco. I doubt I'll ever use it live in my covers band but I like messing around with it

I have a tradional Jim Dunlop wah wah pedal. I'm loving playing my bass through it, although haven't tried it in a live situation. Is it worth investing in the bass wah wah version? My, not so brilliant musical ear likes the sound of playing bass through the guitar version
13. I'm considering getting an Ernie Ball volume pedal. Anyone has one or something similar? I like the idea of being able to manipulate the sound on stage without any messing
14. Just brought the same tuner for £49. It's worth checking the price of it new before getting into any ebay bidding. I saw a Boss pedalboard go for £78 on ebay this week- It's £95 new. Surely a saving of £17 + delivery charges isn't worth it?
15. My first gig for 30 years last night. Rock covers band in a large suburbia pub. Lots of family and friends so the pub was rammed. Responsive audience and the place was bouncing. Unfortunately the guitarist/singer got bladdered and we had to cancel playing one of the songs because he wasn't in the condition to play it. Forgot his words to some songs as well. It was close to being a total disaster but the audience were up for a good boogie and most of the bad stuff went over their heads. A bit of work and discipline needed me thinks. Hasn't put me off though, we're all human.
16. Just joined a band after 30 years in the wilderness. Local covers band playing all the usual covers. I've learnt 29 songs in a relatively short period of time. I must admit I got to the point where i wasn't enjoying all the time it was taking, it was beginning to feel like a job. I'm there now and looking forward to my fist gig since since 1985! My question is how do you guys who deputise for other bands learn all the songs so quickly? Is it years and years of playing covers and you pretty much know them all? Or a really good ear and rhythm and you just pick up new songs almost immediately. I can't imagine 'l'll ever fall into the latter.
17. Not many I think so I guessed it would have to be custom made. Unfortunately my DIY skills don't serve me very well.
18. Just sat on top here's the link: http://www.talkbass.com/threads/very-cool-markbass-rig-stand.1046221/ It is the Markbass Mini CMD 121P and New York 121 extension
19. Hi all Anyone know where I can get one of these stands made?
20. London. I'm thinking about this but London to Stockport?
21. Thanks. I already have the 1x12 combo with a LM Rocker 500 head. You've helped me decide where to go with this. I'll wait for a 12" extension to come along. Buy one from new if I have to.
