IDENTIFICATION on secondhand bass (Pictures included)
AndyTravis replied to Smollfaces's topic in Bass Guitars
With a good clean and a setup, that will be a nice bass. I was always impressed by the EST96, wasn’t as big fan when they changed the headstock to the shape of a trampled donut. -

For reference - Tanglewood or similar age. -

That dual J is often seen on Tanglewood MM copies of a similar era too. The Tanglewoods had a fuller body shape and more MM headstock, but were very similar. -

Best material for hiding a dent in a black bass
AndyTravis replied to Dandelion's topic in Repairs and Technical
The key is to wick a little bit in, let it set. Then again and later it up. If you provide a picture I can guide you through it. Here’s a Washburn I sorted with a mix of superglue and Nail Polish (Rimmel BTW) -

https://www.nme.com/news/music/kurt-cobains-mtv-unplugged-guitar-sells-for-record-breaking-4-85million-2692483 So...this guitar. Most expensive ever sold at auction. Purchased by the owner of Rode Microphones. There was some debate over this guitar - Frances Bean Cobain owned it and gave it to her (now ex) husband. When they divorced, she asked for it back. Judge said No... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-5732933/amp/Frances-Bean-Cobain-gets-dad-Kurts-guitar-ex-finalizes-terms-divorce.html whoops.

so much so, I bought a truck to parade mine around on. I own cardigans too. blummin eck. My Labrador game is weak though.

I think these aren’t production models - they’re from Ashdown’s covid sell off. This is Poplar Burl top under black gloss - Made in the Czech factory. There were 3 or 4 prototypes and “oddities” they sold off. A red J, a 5 string black J, and white Czech P and this. I know because I nearly bought this bass from Lee at Ashdown. But I ended up getting a Sadowsky. Also, the Instinct stuff didn’t have the angled peghead.

Body has arrived with Dave Wilson, as suspected...the dinks and knocks in the body means he may have to sand further than the sealer coat - they’re not massive holes or anything, but would be disruptive to a metallic paint job.

Yeah, I don’t think they’re making it a sig model. Although it would be a nice MM alternative. He’s often seen with a chrome 2024x but also a Modulus Flea. Think Yamaha wanted him playing their basses more regularly and YGD custom shop did this.

Got a mate who’s currently in Gibraltar (he moves around a lot with work) he’s been doing lockdown covers. This time he asked me to join in...

New Fender Vintera 60s Jazz Bass - colour?
AndyTravis replied to Stub Mandrel's topic in Bass Guitars
Gold - but change the pickguard to parchment. Real Norman Watt Roy vibes -
I had 2 bb1100s basses. Wish I’d kept the sunburst one, an earlier model with the squarer P pickup. I’d say pay up to £450 for one. They crop up on eBay and Facebook market place.
