http://www.disneylandafterdark.dk/ check out this band for some 2 string action and some generally mental basses. I think the Musik Schmidt clip (can't get on to youtube at work so can't post the vid) is a Sandberg custom order, search google there are loads of pictures. (edited as i can't read)

Thanks for the offer but I don't need another amp at the moment. I've got no internet connection until tomorrow now (thanks to my fantastic ISP) so full pictures up then. As for trades I may be interested in a decent cab, 4x10 or 2x12 etc but I'd really prefer cash as I have something on order that needs paying for.

Fender Hoppus jazz, one of the original ones so it's a few years old. Generally in good condition, the paint has cracked and lifted/flaked a little in one small area around the neck pocket (see pictures) but there doesn't appear to be a damage to the wood beneath. It was like this when I bought it and it's not been a problem. There are a few other little dings here and there, I've tried to get most of them in the pictures. The "skunk stripe" on the neck is a bit faded towards the body (not sure if these stripe is painted on or not?) Mexican made, precision neck and Seymour Duncan precision quarter pounder pickup which sounds great. Plays well, the neck feels good if slightly slimmer than a regular precision neck. I have the action set pretty high on this and so it might not be to everyones taste but that can be sorted with a set up. Just put a new set of strings on it. Has a hiscox hard case that is by no means mint but does the job. £250 collected, add £15 to that if you want it posted. Who can make me a reasonably priced jazz neck?
waltsdog replied to richrips's topic in General Discussion
Just had a quote from a local luthier for a bog standard neck replacement they were talking £300. -
It would be a bit pointless having a 5 string if you're going to drop the Eb to a Db or a C#, you might as well keep the 4 string tuning you have already as you'd probably never touch the B. You can always try it out, whatever works for you.
-
Easiest would be taking the whole thing down to Bb Eb Ab Db Gb rather than have a odd tuning, you'll have to shift some stuff about a bit but shouldn't be a major problem.
-
I use them quite a bit, mainly in fast stuff but I play a few in some slower songs as well. I do use a pick 99% of the time so that may help a bit.

Has anyone ever been asked to pay to get into their own gig?
I really love the pick tone - but my hand cramps up so quickly when using a pick and i simply dont have the patience to try and get used to pick style! I wish i did... Any advice on fast tracking is appreciated!
I used to have this problem and figured out I was playing far too hard and too near the bridge. Check out some videos on good pick technique, Paul Gilbert's guitar videos are really good for this and just as relevant to the bass. I've only used Jazz iii XL picks since a friend showed me them, feels much more controlled to me than ordinary dunlops or those great big triangle things. They are fairly grippy as well so I don't drop them often.
Cheers WD, I actually contacted that guy prior to pulling the trigger on the Ray! I asked him about his shipping charges and could they be reappraised... and he managed to get the shipping down to $450.
Clearly doesnt want to ship it to the UK then, only other 2005 I came across was a battered 5 string lefty in France http://www.slappyto.net/Forum/Topic.aspx?id=24264 (edit) HH one here in Japan for just over a grand http://www.rakuten.co.jp/ikebe/451762/4673.../867494/#967840
