1. I'm afraid we only have this lovely Translucent Black example, we never stocked white
These have really nice necks and a great range of tones. Very solidly built too. And light!
The necks are nice and slim, bit like an Ibanez SR.
2.
I'm in mid cornwall. It's not easy finding shops with cabs to try round here!
Quite. Even Mansons doesn't have much bass gear to be honest...less now they decided to chop the end of the room off to effectively make room for more acoustic guitars.
3. ...now, if someone were to buy my Yamaha bass
4. I can listen to it, some of it's quite catchy, but I don't get the 'WOW' factor that some have for them. A lot of it sounds like a heavier version of some of the 90's alternative US stuff I used to listen to.
5.
I've just read the whole thread ................ then had to check the date wasn't April 1st - appears to be March 1st so it's obviously not a joke. I'm astonished that so many of you could be hooked by:- a) an entry level copy of a 1960 designed instrument. Such could be considered even worth talking about when good copies of these instruments have been around since the early 1970s c) one which doesn't even come with gig bag normally (so requires considerable expenditure in relation to the cost of the instrument to render it usable to a non bedroom only musician) d) one which seems to have a manual with such poor English as to put it on a par with late 70s far eastern electronic goods. Have you all gone mad or is there such a lowering of the lowest common denominator of desired level of musicianship on this forum that buying one of this starter instruments sight unseen should generate such fervent interest?? The name is even a misspelling of Fender's entry level line - although even that has been the subject of discussion seemingly wishing to elevate it almost to custom shop level. Has anyone dropped one of these Sires to see if it splinters under the slightest gig accident - btw the Squier does - I've seen it happen. If you were lusting after a Ritter or Alembic etc I could understand it, I simply don't understand why people would want to buy a cheap Fender copy in this manner unless they were kids starting out!! Oh well I'm sure someone will give me the low down 😃😄😄😄😄
OutToPlayJazz (Rich) who used to comment on this forum regularly, has some very expensive gear, bought one, gigged it and rated very highly. He even took it to Bass Direct who were equally impressed. I'll go on the recommendations of a pro player and a retailer of high end gear...and anyone who's actually bought one
6.
Hi, I'm looking for a cab to replace my marshall mbc 115. It's to big, heavy and doesn't sound great. I want a single cab for now that I can add to later. Yesterday I went to mansons in Exeter and tried a few 115s - Ampeg svt 15 e GK neo 115 Fender rumble 115 Hartke hydrive 115. The one that really surprised me was the fender rumble v3 115. The hartke seemed sort of wooden sounding and the GK was a bit too bright for my liking. I had been considering the ampeg but it's £200 more than the rumble, bigger and a bit heavier. I also thought the ampeg seemed a bit under rated with a maximum power handling of 200w rms versus the rumbles 300. Funnily enough the features that stopped me walking out with the rumble are the ones I'm looking for - small and light! It almost seems to good to be true that the smallest, cheapest and lightest cab (must admit I didn't try lifting the GK) there was also to me the best sounding. I'm a bit concerned that this cab might be a bit too lightly built. Has anyone used the v3 rumble 115 cabinet as a standalone for a loud band with drummer? If so how does it cope? Thanks, Pete
I was in Mansons last week and lifted the Fender up just to see what it's weight was. It's a good job I didn't put too much effort in otherwise it would have hit the ceiling. Surprisingly light. EDIT: just checked the Fender website, those cabs are less than 18kg.
7. Only basses ordered from the website directly come with a gigbag. The ones from Thomann don't and to be I that is reflected in the price.
8.
Which in turn is only achievable if he can tune a kit properly. Not all drummers can, strangely enough.
I've met some who don't even realise that drums CAN be, let alone, should be tuned
Particularly if they don't also play an instrument, for some reason. They obviously have too much time on their hands.
...and, as in this case, bone idle and not up to scratch.
9. My band are on the look out for a new singer. A particularly bad practice. Our guitarist was incandescent...which is odd as he's never been that bright before . Being serious, our singer is just not pulling her weight and isn't really up to standard. I always find tracking down a good singer really difficult, more difficult than drummers to be honest. Perhaps I'm a tad lucky but I know of two drummers who I could have asked if ours had left. However, singers are a nightmare in my experience.
10.
It's all just getting better and better.... unfortunately.
Behave
11. Yamaha TRBX504 in black - Price Drop £230 Great build quality and has some really great features. It has both active and passive options. The active circuit enables good adjustments. The passive is a really handy feature, firstly if you've forgotten to pack any spare batteries but also I've used it to achieve a very convincing old school tone. (The passive tone control can sound a bit 'on or off') The neck is slim and very easy to play, similar to the Ibanez SR range. The bass is well balanced and sits nicely on a strap and I've found it comfortable even when playing for long periods of time. Detailed spec from the Yamaha site and link: http://usa.yamaha.co...s/trbx/trbx504/ Scale Length: 34'' (863.6mm) Neck: Maple and Mahogany 5pc Fingerboard: Rosewood Radius: 10'' (250mm) Nut Width: 38mm Body: Solid Mahogany Tuners: Die-cast Bridge: Die-cast 19mm Pickups: HHB5n (Alnico V), HHB5b (Alnico V) Controls: Master Volume, Pickup Balancer, Bass, Middle, Treble and Active-Passive switch (Battery Alert LED on back) Hardware: Black Nickel It's in good condition, I've still got the plastic that sits around the controls to say what they do. When not being played it's kept in a hard foam case (the case isn't included I'm afraid). I've still got the box and packaging it came in, so postage is an option (by arrangement). 12. The active EQ probably makes a more marked difference than on the other actives I have owned, especially the treble. I really do like the sweepable mids as well. I've got the TRBX504 (so, coincidently I have the 4 string versions of your 5s Dave ) and I'd agree, they feel is different, each having their own positives. Both very good basses but I really do think that unfortunately I'm going to sell the 504 as I don't think it'll get out of its case anymore.
13. I played mine at practice on Friday and was thoroughly taken with it. It's now my go to bass and will be for the foreseeable. It has a great tone that really can be clearly heard in the mix. It's very loud, well, I thought it was. I had my amp set at the volume I'd normally have it and had to turn it down quite a bit. Very happy. Dave. The G on mine is low, probably lower than on my other basses but it doesn't sound as if it's as low as yours maybe...but then I don't play slap either
14. Great pics. I notice in one pic you seem to be playing above the 7th fret
15. Holy mother of doo dah, spoilt for choice
16. Where we perform is always a stage All the best and get rockin'
17.
Gah! The GAS is building up...
No it's not...remember. 1976!!!!!!!
18. The OP is clearly ill. You need to visit your GP immediately. Quickly now.
19.
Ahhhh! No.
Please do keep up
20. Oh, now that is nice
21. That's definitely a cross against that retailer in my book, That's two 'chatters' that have had issues with them. Hope it gets sorted out promptly
22. On the YT clip of the film I watched of the programme the part about Micheal taking up a new position and fulfilling what was offered regards AJ's visa etc was made very clear. What was not made clear by either the film or the company is what job he now has, the conditions and compensation for it...considering his confessed 'disappointment' he seemed less than pleased. What was also striking though was that all through the film references were made to how the workforce were kept in the dark and that the COO and CEO very rarely showed their faces at the plant. This was a major complaint, So, when it came to laying people off, rather than turning that around, they got other managers to do the unpleasant task of saying to people they hadn't a job anymore. If such a simple thing hadn't changed then it doesn't bode well for the company as a whole.
23.
Very nice, and they make a left handed version. I didn't want to know that!
Too late They look lovely.
24. The last 15mins was the telling part from where it went from the 'tv show' and entertainment to the raw truth. It went from the COO sitting down, individually, with the staff who had appeared in the show and basically throwing money at them. Money to pay off college debts, help with getting work visas etc. The guy from the main production plant, Micheal, had been convinced to stay at Peavey, despite being offered a better paid job elsewhere, this guy was absolutely shafted. In that way it was the most real of unreality shows, because what it demonstrated is that the company and management had, as is the case in so many struggling companies, paid lip service to the concerns of its employees.
25. I watched the Undercover Boss programme this morning. It didn't paint a good picture of how Peavey is run, especially at the very top. I really did feel sorry for the two employees they filmed at the US factory. Micheal in particular, what an appalling way to reward the man's loyalty and commitment to the company. I've never liked Peavey gear to begin with, they've been sitting on their past success too much. 3 years ago they came out with some bass combos whose aim seem to be to compete to be the heaviest thing on earth. As for what they've done, or not, to Trace...I shan't be buying their gear.
