1. Letting my USA Jazz go as it's just not being played. Bought a year ago from LayDownThaFunk, served me really well as my main bass in the last functions band, but the new band has got me playing my Status 5 all the time. This deserves to be played as more than a man-cave bass! She's in absolutely beautiful condition, apart from some very faint belt buckle marks she's immaculate. Fantastically rich modern Jazz sound Passive electronics, with Fender's S2 switching to put the pickups in series with each other Fender hard case included, bit tatty as a gigging hardcase should be on the outside, very nice inside All of the scratchplates pictured are included! Tortoiseshell, 3-layer white, and black with pinup girl (this isn't a sticker, it's part of the plate) Schaller locking strap buttons fitted, will also include the standard buttons Buyer collects (can meet in south Hants area) or £15 P&P. No trade offers please, I've got all the music gear I could possibly want! 2. Damn it, that is exactly, and I mean EXACTLY, the bass I'm in the market for right now!
3. Last chance bump before they go on ebay... £150 for either cab now, or make me a sensible offer on the pair!
4. It buys my cabs or it gets the hose again, Precious
5. Roughly weekly bump for my awesome cabs. Buy them now and rock those Christmas party functions!
6. Bump! Sorry folks, the head has now been sold to a member here Cabs, tuner, wireless, and rack case still available. Prices dropped and now listed individually. Still no trades please, but if more than one item takes your fancy, message me and we'll talk
7. Thank you - yes, it's a brilliant head. I've had a few enquiries about individual items but nothing sold yet, everything still up for sale together or singly
8. Bump bump bumpety bump bump Did I mention the new reduced price, openness to splits, and general awesomeness of this gear
9. I was down at the New Amsterdam, staring at this yellow haired girl - Counting Crows, Mr Jones And your hands are really shaking something awful as you light your twenty-seventh cigarette - Joan Osborn, Crazy Baby Psychic spies from China try to steal your mind's elation - Red Hot Chili Peppers, Californication
10. Bump! Price dropped Am open to splitting individual parts now too -PM me for info
11. Well I didn't want to split it, but if you two fine gents want the head and both cabs between you, we'll call that a win! I'll work out individual prices and PM you both Cheers Nick
12. Gone now via eBay - thanks to everyone who messaged - RBX410 cab with castors - £150 - this has been my main gigging cab so the carpet is a bit bobbled, plus there's a tear at the back which I've patched with gaffa tape (check the picture). This isn't visible from the front. Cab still sounds amazing, maintains great clarity and punch even when pushed hard - RBX115 cab with castors - £150 - this cab has barely been used and is in great condition. Both cabs support GK's bi-amp system where the tweeters are powered by a separate power amp in the head, or they can be run as standard 8ohm cabs with the internal passive crossovers - Korg DTR2000 rack tuner - £80 - didn't realise these are discontinued until somebody messaged me about it! Fantastic condition. Dual inputs, strobe mode, all sorts of fancy tricks. Even has a light on the bottom to light up the rest of your rack! - Samson wireless rack receiver and 'bug' transmitter - £100 (I'll throw in some spare AAA batteries too ) - Spider 4U rack case - £20 Located in Southampton. Due to the size of the cabs, collection would be best for these! I'll meet halfway within a reasonable distance for fuel cost. The other bits I'll happily package and post Sale only (no trades please)
13. With my band winding down, it's time to move on some of the PA equipment I've got. First up is my Mackie SWA 1501 active sub. Really good condition, with just some scuffing on the edges and corners (visible in the photos) Bought it second hand just over a year ago and have only gigged it a few times, when we needed to give the normal PA cabs a bit of a helping hand Obviously really brings out a mic'd kick drum or DI feed from the bass, but also gave the vocals a lot of extra depth too (possibly from taking workload off of the top cabs) Comes with a padded slip-over cover. Due to the size and weight, collection only (from Southampton) please, or for fuel allowance I'll meet you halfway up to a reasonable distance. Looking for £400 cash, no trades please
14. Hi there, I'm very interested in the amp, but as it's collection only... where are you please?
15. Being both a very bouncy active player and a wise man, I secured my bass to my strap with some Schaller-style (but a cheap knock-off copy brand) locking strap nuts Towards the end of one of the first gigs with the band, in front of all friends and family who'd pitched up to support, I was giving it large with some pogo action. Suddenly my bass is impacting at high speed with my big toe nail. Thought either the strap had broken or the securing screw had ripped out of the body, but it turned out the body pin of the strap lock had sheared right through! Sat cross legged and finished the song while a laughing cousin brought me up a chair. Toe hurt for weeks afterwards and the impressing nail bruise took forever to grow out. Lucky not to have broken anything as it's a heavy walnut bass. Whenever I ask around at the day job for folks to come to a gig I still get "but are you going to drop your bass on your foot at this one?"
16. My previous drummer was very old-school and had a huge irrational hatred of the fact that our new singer likes to have a stand with the lyrics on. She's an absolute firecracker of energy on stage and there's no question that she's totally engaged with the audience, but just wants the words there to catch any occasional "oops" moment. Never had a negative comment about it from a single punter / venue manager / agent Anyhow, said drummer departed in time (for reasons other than the music stand) and I was explaining the whole thing to my (non musician) girlfriend. She gave me the wise point of view that to the non-musos in the audience, there's so much stuff on stage (mic stands, PA stands, light stands, backline, drums etc) that the uninitiated have little to no clue what any of it does. They're just there to listen to the music and watch the band perform. Slipping the odd look at a lyric folder means nothing to them at all
17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAqVmUciDSc Excellent song and video by a young artist I like, on the particular subject of his generation living a step or two removed from experience by technology First verse: "I've seen a person go to shows and raise a lighter app, but if you're at my concert please don't ever try that cr@p Let's set fire to the heavens, turn the mother lovin' speakers to eleven, this is Spinal Tap"
18. If you think some RF noise through the amps is bad, check this story out - we did a cheap wedding gig for a friend's son on Saturday. The happy couple wanted a Miley Cyrus (shudder) song for the first dance. We made it clear that we wouldn't learn it, but would put it on the between-sets ipod Now the groom used to do some DJing back in the day so he says "I'll put a load of music onto my phone for between the sets, save you the hassle - you just have the first dance on yours as an emergency backup" Fantastic! We're saved the bother of spinning up tunes before, between, and after our sets. So, the announcement goes up for the first dance, and Miley starts playing from the groom's phone. Happy couple all loved up during the dance. Until... his ringtone kicks in during the first chorus! Silly bugger didn't put it in airplane mode. Bride looked distinctly unimpressed!
19. I've yet to hear anything sound as hi-fi and clear as my GK setup. Fusion 550 head into a 410MBX cab (have a matching 1x15 as well but never need it - crazy amounts of volume on tap with just one cab) Rather over budget new probably but around the region for 2nd hand
20. Got a last minute cancellation gig at a new venue for us who were having a bank holiday hog roast special. Told the landlady we'd do it for our usual fee plus a free hog roast for each band member! Went down a storm and handed out loads of CDs and cards for wedding and birthday party enquiries. So: got paid, got fed, got more work, and got our party hats on out in the sun on the bank holiday. I LOVE being in this band
21. That's one seriously sexy bass right there!
22. All I'll say is... if you're going to jointly own any kind of equipment, get something down in writing listing the stuff, purchase price, and everyone's names. Unbelievable how fast even the closest of bands can turn sour and previously good people can become absolute d!ckheads !
