1. I just got one of these and I'm very impressed with the tone. Definitely a good buy.
2. Good to see it finally found a home
3. Alright. I sent you a PM back wayne.
4. Anyone else thinking a 2x10 or 4x10? I know someone selling a Hartke Transporter 210 (but it's 8 Ohms)
5. Can't recommend this enough. http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~P...ble~ID~3893.asp Really good quality cable, very sturdy. And it has a circuit break switch on the guitar end so if you use multiple basses there's no need to go and turn off your amp etc. Just press the button swap over and then press it again for instant action And what's more, it's 30ft
6. Worn frets, a bridge with saddles that don't stay in place for long (due to worn screws) and it's hard to tune / keep in tune (possibly because of the bridge). All the problems could be fixed easily but tbh I don't feel anything for this bass so I do wonder about selling it on and combining the earnings with some other money and getting another shiny thing.
7. I highly recommend that Shine as well. They feel great to play on and give a lovely tone. Quite rare to pick up but if you dig around enough you should be able to find one for sale somewhere. I'm not a big fan of the Fender, bought it with high expectations but it doesn't wow me. I'm currently considering whether to try and get it to feel 'just right' but having work done to it or whether to sell it on.
8. After a while picking up various bits I've now finally got a gigworthy set of kit. It might not be the best in the land, but it'll do for me Shine Extreme Series WEB845 Fender Jazz Ashdown MAG210T Deep Ashdown Little Giant 350 Boss ME-50B
Early active Shine basses were often shipped with standard jacks, meaning they sap battery power even when they're unplugged. The first Shine 6er i got had this problem, £15 for a local tech. Check yours for this, i paid for mine to be replaced with a switching jack. The price you pay for completey automated bass building! I think everything but the finishing was automated, even the fretwork!
Well I bought the bass in Feb 09 and have used it since then as my only bass. In January it started becoming a bit intermittent and then it died completely in Feb. It had been going on one battery that whole time and however long the previous owner had it in there.
If the MIM needs a complete fret dress etc and you got it cheap because it needs the work doing, it's going to be less hassle to move it on. If you're going to lose a lot of money by doing that, it might be better to sort out the problems.
It was bought for £200 last month. Paid £30 for it to be restringed and setup etc. The bridge screws are worn so it'll lower itself down after about half an hour of playing. And the frets are rather worn. I'm going to get those photos taken now

Sure. It's a 2004 MIM Fender Jazz in Daphne Blue. Will take some in the morning. I am in Epsom, Surrey.

However, I'm thinking about moving the Fender on and combining it with some incoming money to buy something new. Hmm, another Fender Jazz or prehaps something else...
12. Speaker cables have a different impedance to instrument/mic cables.
13. When I used wireless I had three seperate systems. Made changing a doddle They didn't get much use though so I sold them to put the money to good use. (Shure Professional Series kit buys a lot of shiny things )
It's not an active bass though
I'd like to ammend that statement and announce I found the problem. Battery is flat, I had no idea it was an active bass!

I'm not letting the Shine go under circumstances It's just a question as to whether or not to fix it or just keep it for the looks It's not an active bass though so am I right in thinking that unit wouldn't be right? I think it's a pickup problem but I can't find out until it's opened.

Bass Woes

A couple of months back I picked up my second bass, a MIM Fender Jazz. It was good for the first few days but it really didn't have that wonder factor that I was hoping for. There's quite a bit of fret wear on it and the bridge either needs a bit of work or replacing. Either way it's useable but not comfortably. Although when that was causing me problems I could run back to my Shine. I've never seen anyone else using them so that makes it rather special I feel. I love it yet it recently developed an electrics fault and I'm waiting to see whether it's easily fixable or if I'm going to have to replace bits. Either way, I have one unusable bass and one alrightish bass and I'm not too happy. What would you do? Throw money at them and fix them, or go hunting on the market again...

18. Alright. Was looking at combining it with a rack tuner in either a 2 or 3 U case.
19. Ah. So would a US spec rack case be alright?
20. Cheers. So in summary the screws take 2U space but in reality there's a bit of space both above and below the unit.
21. Just got a Little Giant with a mind to rack mounting it yet it's not a standard 1 or 2U size. Any ideas what size I should get? Or any other helpful advice...
22. The answer that you'll get from the vast majority of non-players without a doubt would be 'Flea'.
