1. I just shipped an Ampeg head using Paisley Shipping. Companies like parcelfarce etc. have an exception in their insurance/liability that says musical amplifiers aren't covered at all, even if it gets smashed to pieces. In fact, I never found a single company that didn't have that rule. Which kind of makes it a bit lucrative sending amps with them as the moment something goes wrong, even if they're to blame, there's nothing you can do. That was until I found Paisley. They have a list of items that are excluded from insurance/liability. But amps aren't one. They'll cover it fully insured, door to door. And next day delivery will cost less than £20 for your AD200. A massive recommendation for them, to anybody wanting to send an amp head.
2.
Oh and it was nice to catch up with Bankai (Martin? not sure)
Nice to see you in again. It's Alex I'm sadly still not full-time there. It's a bit of a shame, all of their other staff are guitar salespersons, I'm the only one who is a bass man, and I'm also supposed to be the hi-tech (PA/Recording/Sound) salesmen, but I'm only part-time. It really should be the other way round, having one of the guitar people part-time and me in full-time so when someone comes in for bass/sound, I can be there to help, rather than one of the guitarists having to improvise.
3.
Do you? I looked, and found nowt in the internet. What are they mate?
http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/bass_guitars...ndname=Sandberg The PM in tobacco is the one we both really like. All three are in store in Epsom (unless for some reason they've been transferred in the past two days when I've been off). I'm working tomorrow (Thursday), Saturday and Sunday this week. Let me know if you are coming in. This Thursday we also have SLASH (AMAGAD) coming in store!
4.
Yeah and who pointed it out to you?
You may take credit! I'd been dedicating all my playing time to having a go on that rickenbacker! Although I'm very happy to have found a new love
5. We have two in GG Epsom I tried one for the first time last weekend and I absolutely loved it!
6. I don't like bass guitar. I only play it fulfill my masochistic desires with the abuse I get from guitarists, drummers, singers, keyboard players, backing vocalists, saxophonists and triangle players.
7. I'll try and sort out a time to come over and have a try. I shall hopefully save you!
8. The dog eyes are helping, but what'd help more would be pictures of the rig itself
9. I'm selling my stuff if anyone's interested. Pictures near the top of this page.
10. Tonehammer 500 or an Orange Bass Terror I'd say
11. A very simple way to look at the American Specials is that they are just a Mexican but made in the US. I wouldn't consider them a substitute for a standard.
12. Would do a trade for an appropriate 410.
13. It's a Fender American Series Precision Bass. Basically the predecessor to the American Standard. S1 switching comes in mighty handy when you want to pretend you have a Jazz bass!
14. Due to not having a van and having to put my amp in the back of a relatively small car, I'm thinking about going along the 410 or 610 route rather than full 810. I've had the lightweight solution, but I am moving back to the big rig. It's just not quite the same
15. Dare I say have a look at sadowsky? Might be something suitable in their range.
16. Open Low C when tuned CGCF
17. Also consider tucking the cable behind the strap so that it doesn't get pulled out?
18. Double Alpine White OBC810s. I am jelly. That's all I can say!
19. Sergio (the new bassist in the Deftones) has always been a user of Ampeg SVT-CL rigs, however he's swapped to something else, but I can't tell what it is. The cabs are Orange OBC810, however that headrig is something I haven't seen before. Can anyone identify?
20. MV5 is my favourite 5 string. It's hard to imagine a better one!
21. If I had my cab sold I would be jumping in! Shame you're not after any trades, otherwise I'd be offering up my Orange SP210
22. The TC Electronic deals have been the only major thing I've seen in a while.
23. Generally if you can find it cheaper, then GG will price match. Just ask on the phone or alternatively come in store. As for discounts otherwise, you'll usually find the guys can do you a deal if you buy a couple of things, for example a head and cab together. If it's the Newcastle store that's nearest to you, then ask to speak to a manager there once you know what it is you're after. Myself and normal staff aren't able to do discounts you see so all we'd be doing would be asking a manager ourselves! Any further questions then PM me Probably best rather than pulling this thread off track which I could see us doing!
24. Although not strictly London, come to GuitarGuitar in Epsom. Ask for me (Alex) and I'll sort you out. Have got everything from Sadowsky to Phil Jones, and much more. We don't work on commission so you won't have to put up with someone continually upselling or ignoring your sale if it's less than £1000 etc.
25. Sooo tempted.
