  2. I come back to it every few weeks.....but currently a little rich (not that it's overpriced at all) for what I'd want it for (fretless conversion). But yeah! Lovely bass! Si
  3. Really cool!! Si
  4. Depends how you look at it. All Lakland US models are 'custom orders', but depends whether they built it directly for a customer, or perhaps a dealer. I think nowadays they tend to just ship out their reduced-options 'Classic' US models to dealers, perhaps with the odd "Ltd colour' or whatever, but I imagine the full US customs make their way to dealers too. Nothing fancy, but after the DOD 250 rehouse/mod project (see above), I had a spare DOD enclosure. No faffing, just dropped a Fuzz Dog 250 kit straight in. Good as new haha. Si
  6. I’ve wanted another Lakland Precision since I sold my last US 44-64 (I was’t keen on the sunburst), when this got listed, I was instantly into the Black/Black/Maple rock vibe. As such, this will be wearing La Bella RX Steels when I get round to changing them. It currently has an EMG Geezer Butler pickup in it, however I’ll be putting the original Lakland p’up back in as I really liked it on my previous 44-64. This joins my US 44-94 custom, 55-01 & Skyline DJ5 in my current stable.
  7. Looks lovely. The master builds are a step up, I wouldn’t lump them in with ‘custom shop’, as my perception is that’s the team-built stuff. Pretty sure MB are into the £4k+ brackets, so decent find if you like it. Si
  8. Bought a Lakland 44-64 today from Ben. Super smooth and delightful meet for the part-ex/purchase. Good bass chats, and our first 'bench deal' haha. Cheers Si
  9. Lakland 44-64 in the house :D. Will do a post soon

      Congratulations!

  10. Double-edged sword though, yeah would upset tracking, but then having the OC2 first means that the fuzz is going to compress all the sub out from it, assuming that they’re used together. So really just depends on ones usage. Si
  11. Dave is great to deal with too. I’ve played this bass and it’s lovely!! Si
  12. I really didn’t get on with the Filter pre when I tried it, so when I ordered my ACG, I had it built with the more standard treb/mid/bass JE preamp (I forget the name). The bass sounded awesome, and I found that preamp very intuitive (as that setup has been my experience of active basses for however long). So yeah, if you like the bass, perhaps swap out the preamp for the more conventional one. Si
  13. Nailed it, thanks very much! Si
  14. Hi all, I’ve googled and looked at manual a bit, but no luck. With a Mosky external foot switch (so additional fs 4 & 5), how do I assign those to blocks in stomp mode. They’re assigned in global settings, but with the 3 main switches, you assign them to a block by simply touching them, the external foot switches don’t have that tech, so how do they get assigned to a block? Cheers Si

For those who care, I’m glad to say the issue wasn’t any part of my build, nor was it a dodgy switch, it was the DOD connector (the white clip connecting the cables). Unclipped it, dislodged some grime, little clean, now all works a treat! Lovely 😊 Si
  16. Presumably the band sent reference recordings (ie recordings/albums you like the sound of) to the mastering engineer before they started? If so then, if the engineer isn’t hitting those preferences, wrong engineer for you? Mastering by committee is not likely to get you finished very soon....or at all haha. Si
  17. Possibly, but it’s still a fairly simple bag, the initial query of this thread was to find a solid gigging bag similar to a Mono/Gruv gear style mag. The entry level Gruv Gear hit that just about, but my next stop would definitely be a Serek bag. Si
  18. MonoNeon's playing is always great, for all his eccentricities, his band playing is often quite beautifully nuanced. His note choices in this Jackson cover are wonderful, as well as his really well controlled use of the Whammy for that synth bass sound. Si

Thanks for reminding me, just added to original post and updated the descriptions a little. Si
  20. No you won’t damage anything, it just won’t be the best tonally is all. Personally I dislike recording with an amp in the room, much prefer headphones to track with, then mix on monitors (if available). Si // Focusrite
  21. Ahhh, if only it was a maple board!! Si
  22. It’s not the ONLY way (as above), but it’s the way that will allow you the best quality IMO Si // Focusrite

Hive-mind, I’m dealing with some niggles. On first test, the pedal worked fine, but I quickly put it away as I’d been at it for a couple of hours. Next day, worked first time, nice DOD 250 overdrive tones blendable with clean, then switching it on and off a few times, the DOD circuit would increasingly stop working. Now that’s not to say that the pedal lost signal, but more that, even with the blend fully over to the DOD, the DOD’s controls aren’t responding. There is a clear difference blending between ‘clean’ and DOD.....but both are now clean, with the DOD’s Level & Gain controls having no effect on the signal. Thoughts? Edit: I think it’s the switch itself, either there’s some muck in there or it’s a bit duff. I’ll try some switch cleaner, if not, I’ll have to try swapping it out.....which will be annoying haha. Si
  24. Audio interfaces aren’t really meant to output to instrument amps, on account of the outputs being line-level, which means you’ll be driving your amp quite hard, and at the wrong impedance....it won’t sound great. If you want to monitor yourself via the Scarlett while recording, I would suggest headphones from the interface, or invest in some proper studio monitors (ADAM Audio, KRK, Yamaha etc). Edit: If you REALLY want to your Ashdown to monitor, I would suggest buying a Re-amp box to put between the Scarletts outputs and your amp. Just remember you’ll also be putting through the track you’re recording to as well, so less than ideal....I refer back to my recommendation of using headphone or proper monitors. Si // Focusrite
  25. What amp are you referring to? The outputs on the rear of the Solo are mono line-level outputs, so you’ll want to use both of them for a stereo signal. Si // Focusrite
