1. Meh.....it's alright! I jest! Wonderful news I just got hold of an A series Jap Squier as my first foray into 'vintage' Precisions (I'm a Jazz guy you see), that alone is brilliant....so this must be truly sublime, especially with such a great life story behind it!. Sorry if it's already been mentioned, but is it the original case and appropriate candy as well? Si
2.
These are discontinued too, so get em while you can. They're gonna be CHEAP!
?? They're still on the Ashdown website! Sure you're not thinking of the Superfly? Si
3.
What was that about wandering a bit quicker? Nice to meet you Si. I hope you had fun after I had to go.
I do apologise for my tardiness mate! nice to meet you to, albeit briefly. Combination of 50 mph sections on the motorway and having a pretty girlfriend lol Didn't try much after you went as I went up today as well. Tried the Overwater 5 fretless.....was alright, got very confused by the side dots being ON their respective frets, not a fretted player friendly bass haha. Tried the grey Bongo......was alright, didn't feel too nice but sounded alright, too complicated for me though . Where's my Jazz Bass! Like I said, went up today but didn't really check any other basses out. My dad is hopefully going for one of the Taylor acoustics, so spent the visit in (my very limited) guitar mode lol Si
4. James Crofts (Shuker Endorsee last I checked) used to play for Bon Giovi. They've done loads of Euro tours and big gigs in the UK etc. Not sure if he's on here, met him a while ago, but didn't stay in contact! Si
5. Wander a bit quicker and get there about 1 mate, I gotta leave at 2 lol Si
6. So you're saying it's 1000watts at 2ohms then!? But yes, 2x 500watts at 4ohms (non-bridgable). Probably around 350watts at 8ohms Si
7. In fact, looking at it, has the fingerboard been stripped as well?. Body needs a refinish, because frankly there's 'Mojo', then there's "I've just bought a sander, what needs sanding". If the guy is a stand-up guy, I'm sure he'd be open to realistic offers lol Si
8.
Aleatoric, stochastic and generative musics by their very nature have to be defined theoretically before they can be performed (or even composed).
They might be pushing the boundaries of this particular discussion lol, but even here, surely the theory that is being used to define these pieces is the same theory that has been retrospectively applied to previous, already created, musical ideas!? Si
9. It's worth noting that it's not 1000watts at 4ohms, it's 1000watts at 2ohms! Si
10.
Explanation is not part of the creative process.
I wholly agree with this! Si
11.
Most of the orchestral repertoire !
Sorry, I meant musical concepts as opposed to pieces of music! Si

Basswood

As I mentioned in your Squier post, check out the MusicMan Bongo's for a 'higher end' bass made from Basswood. A lot of Ibanez Guitars also use it as body wood, including a lot of the Prestige range Si

My gear

How does the 810 sound with that markbass head? I don't mean any offence by this obviously, but 250watts doesn't seem a lot to drive that massive cab!? Si
14. It's a tree . A high end bass you may have heard of that also uses Basswood is the MusicMan Bongo! Si
15.
Pete took the neck off, threw it in the bin Why he didn't bin the first neck in the first place is still beyond me...
But the moment someone plays a dodgy CS "OH MY GOD FENDER ARE CRAP" Every builder and manufacturer puts out something dodgy every now and then. It's relative though, Electric Wood maybe put out, what?, 50 basses a year when Pete was still going?. Fender, as an example manufacturer, put out a few hundred thousand!. Definitly pop into the Merchant in Colchester, and the Gallaryin London, take your bass, and have a play of loads others. It's a day out if nothing else Si
16. All the Squier Classic Vibes (including the James Johnston Jazz) are basswood bodies Si
17. I really really like mine, the build quality and finish is second to none! But I'm sorry, doesn't sound as good (to me anyway) as my US Jazz Si
18.
John Mayer though? He's this decade's Garth Brooks.
Oh, and there's nothing wrong with a bit of Garth Brooks! Si
19.
The track is called: "Who Did You Think I Was?"
You're right, 'Everyday I have The Blues' is the first track from the Trio set, think I was getting muddled up cos the OP made me put the DVD on and have a play along , love the intro to EIHTB. Si
20. I'm having a jaunt back to Essex to see my parents, and will no doubt pop into the Merchants for a mooch about and a play! Anyone gonna be about? Si
21.
You live in Colchester? Get thee to Status Graphite! Rob, Dawn & co. will doubtless have something that takes your fancy!
+1 Si
22. It's probably worth popping into the Bass Merchant in Colchester and asking them to keep an eye out for one for you!? But don't CUSTOM order one.......bilbo won't be happy , buy off the shelf. hehe Si
23.
In truth this, of course, is all that needs to be said on the matter
Indeed. It could also be considered a bit of an 'chicken-egg' moment. Was music first?, or written theory?. Most would say music was being made by humans before the species could write. So historically, one could argue that all theory is put in place retrospectively to explain what has creatively preceeded it. It would be interesting to know if anything musical has been written theoretically before it has been performed creatively, like some other 'conventional' scientific experiments. Si
24. Sorry to hear about the theft mate! My mate had a load of gear, moulded in-ears & unit, mics etc, nickec out of his car, and he managed to claim on his house insurance. So maybe that's an avenue?! Good luck with the sale! Si
