1. Mate I'm with you on this!! The general Disney back catalogue has some TUNES!! Great songwriting and playing! Si
2. Definitly not in a hurry for this because it's a cool bass BUT I am gassing for a hollowbody/archtop style bass of some description, so I'm adding that to the Trade list Si
3. Just skimmed the above posts, so sorry if I'm repeating, but as far as I'm aware the pickups and pre in the MIM deluxes are the same as the US deluxes. It's just the hardware that is downgraded and the MIM isn't available in Ash. So as long as you find a nice one that sounds and feels good acousticly, you won't be a million miles away from the US ones. Remember as well that the US Jazz Deluxes have slightly smaller and different shaped bodies to the MIM deluxes. The MIMs have a more traditional size and shape. I personally prefer full size Jazz shapes, not the US Deluxe shape. Si
4.
*Grins* No problem there, Mart. I already have two stonking Jazzes. No need for another one.
Absolutely no such thing as too many Jazzes Si
5. Argh, I emailed Rob about a Retro a few weeks ago! Looks a beauty, but if I went with one from Status, it would be passive Good luck with the sale! Si
6.
People describe Sadowsky's as Jazzes on Steroids..... how on earth can you describe that beast?!
Some people are very odd, my US Jazz is MUCH more mouthy than the US Sad that I gigged a few weeks ago! Still loving this build! Si
7. I'm telling you, refinish it in a lovely Sonic Blue, it will be gone in 2 weeks lol Si
8.
Are you sure these haven't sold Pete?
I think I'm definite, although I might have to put out a feeler! Si
9. With regards to the tuners on this one, they are a similar style to my Squier Deluxe, whether they're any better I dunno, but they look the same! Si
10. I know you have said just a violin bass, but any interest in my parts P/J (see my sig) plus some cash? Worth a punt Si
11. Ah ok, thanks for the heads up! Si
12. Ok cheers I'm looking for a lightweight backup to my Ashdown EVO II 500, but like to use the tube to get a bit of dirt......not too much though. Sounds like the LMT won't do that...back to the drawing board! Si
13. Sibob

Hear how I do it

If everything is 'clean', why are you using the Vbass? Or are you using it as an interface/preamp? Si
14. I was hoping to have the basses for my gigs this weekend, but will have to wait for next week now booooooooo lol. If anyone is interested, Biffy's whole new album is streaming at their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/biffyclyro Tracks worth noting (for the uninitiated) are: The Captain That Golden Rule Born On A Horse Mountains I'm sure others will jump out at me upon further listens Si
15. Has anyone had any experience of the Little Mark Tube yet? Very interested in the idea of it, just wanna know if it delivers Si
16. It does make me wonder who they think they're marketing their instruments to. Its tough enough for 'boutique wood' type luthiers to survive when the inevitable cycle of 'Fender clone' love comes around, let alone bizarre makes like this trying to make a living. Very odd Si
17. Like I hinted at in my inital post, try it first Si
18. Mexi factory opened in '87 I think, although don't know when production started!? Bear in mind I dunno what US tuners looked like back then lol, I can only tell what i think Mexi tuners look like now! Si
19. £2000 starting price though? (approx) No thanks lol Si
20. Schultz and co. didn't buy back Fender from CBS until 1985, and even then initially imported the guitars. But you're right, I just checked and I got my dates a little late , apparently the Corona factory opened in '85 under the new regime also. I've never tried late 80's/early 90's Fender's, but I have heard people say they weren't the best, mostly guitarists I have to say. I think Beedster had a similar bass for sale, can't rememner whether he said it was a good'n or not!? I've seen a pic of the bass in question though, and it looks nice. Hardware looks a little cheap perhaps, definitly similar tuners to whats on MIMs and Squiers now. The guy who's selling it hasn't taken great pictures of it. I'll let the OP post the full link to the listing if he wants to. Si
21. I'm pretty sure the late 80's US Fenders are deemed to have mostly been 'of bad stock'. It's when they were just getting back on their feet after the CBS buy-back So I reckon, if it's nice to you, it's worth something, if you think it's a dog, chances are so will other people lol Post some pictures anyway! Si
22. Yes also definitly want pictures! Si
23.
I have no idea why a rehearsal room would want a 4x10 & a 1x15. The money they spent on this would have been far better used on something more suited to the room but of higher quality than an Ashdown Mag system. I guess some people love the idea of a big rig for rehearsing though - The guitar amp is a Marshall half stack as well!
I definitly agree with that! I guess a lot of it is having a system in the room that joe bloggs recognises and is cheap and easy to replace/fix. Si
24. 5 string Sterling innit! http://www.music-man.com/instruments/basses/sterling-5.html Si
25. I think usually when the pickups are fairly equally matched, there isn't too much of an issue. For example a bass with two humbuckers of the same brand, or two single-coils of the same brand should be fairly matched. The problem comes, from what I've heard, when you have say a humbucker at the bridge and a single coil at the neck (ala Laklands & Stingray HS's), switching between the two can cause a drop in volume as humbuckers are generally louder. Si
