Hi Drew, how you keeping man? I have two of the 210 cabs and I love this set up! it's so light and portable and sounds huge. Definately beats lugging the VBA400 or SVT 4PRO rigs around anyways! Defiantely get a second one if you can. Didn't you have that 8x6 cab as well?

Mesa Boogie Bronco head case SOLD
basshead56 replied to Jimelliottbassist's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Dammit!!! This is EXACTLY what im after! they're 400quid here and it takes forever to get 'em! any chance at all you could send to New Zealand??? I'm definately keen! also, is that the 210 Powerhouse cab? im looking at getting one (found one nearby) to go with the M-pulse 600 for rehearsals and small gigs. Is it very heavy? how does it sound with your M-pulse 600? -
I'd be more tempted to get the mini svt that not valve! can get a close enough sound and is really light and if your going straight into the pa i doubt you need something as heavy or big as the svt. +1 Of all my gear sitting in my studio back home, it's my Micro VR I think I miss most. I run/ran it through two of the matching 2x10 cabs (stacked vertically or side by side, depending on the gig) and it sounds IMMENSE. really close to a big SVT and you could fit it in the boot of a mini!. You could also try an SVT DI-rare as rocking-horse s**t these days, but very nice! andy Sod lumping a 410 about if all you really need is a preamp for tonal purposes. Consider a Sansamp DI or preamp like bremen suggests if all of your gigs are guaranteed to come with decent FOH and stage monitoring. If not, maybe the CL with a smaller cab. +1 also. Here in NZ I use a Tech 21 Bass VT Deluxe as my preamp section. It's saved my skin on more than one occasion (typically when we've played using other bands' backline and the bass amp is either a blown Fender Rumble 100{the most common amp in NZ}, or a horrible Behringer thingy). Just go direct to PA with the VT Deluxe and your away. It even makes my (insanely immovable) Mesa rig sound nicer! Lovely warm SVT goodness in a can... Still, nothing cooler than a big bad SVT rig though
I confirm : this type of 7.... molded Bass case fits classics bodies shapes. I had one with a bass and i both use it for my P and JB. If you plan to buy it: is it a second hand case or brand new one ? If it is brand new, for the same price, i would choose another trademark than 7.... because IMO you pay, above all, the logo and the quality is not always here. When Leo was running 7.., MM or G&L the cases didn't look cheap. If it is a "roadworn" case, for a decent price, it will do the job being made of resistant plastic. If you need pictures of the basses in the case, i can shoot few ones . Keep on grooving
Merci monsieur! I bought it second hand last night for $85NZD - 50 euros, so I am pretty happy with that. I should receive it early next week, so I will confirm if it fits. Cheers Colin

I had a tenor/4 string Mandobird (sunburst) that I played for a bit. Thinking of getting one of those Fender electro-acoustic ones and taking it up again. Matt Freeman is a great mando player (he does a bit on Lars' second solo album)
The standard Fender moulded case like this fits both J and P basses
That's the one. Cool. will take a punt I reckon. Doesn't have to be brilliant, just functional at this stage. I know they aren't the greatest cases ever made, but they do the job and the fact that it's cheap enough is a bonus, cause good gear is harder to find here. I have one of the new American Standard SKB cases and it's the mutt's nuts! Bought new through a shop for 300NZD so around 150 quid-ouch!

Hi guys, Just wondering if one the 90's/'00's shaped/molded Fender cases would fit both a Jazz and a Precsion? There's one going nearby (but not nearby enough to tryout). The guy said he used it for a Jazz - I wanna know if it'll fit my 70's Precision. I have one back in Ireland and I remeber it fitting a Precision, cant remeber trying it with either of my Jazz basses. are there different versions of these cases that fit one model only? I know there's a Deluixe version with the blue or red logos on the top side and they only fit the deluxe series. Any thoughts?

Seymour Duncan SPB-3 pickups earth/grounding fault
basshead56 replied to basshead56's topic in Repairs and Technical
Well, tried it all - no good. Still has the weird hum and buzz in the first two pole pieces! I got a reply back from the eBay store (somewhere in California) on the 18th saying if there was a fault they'd do an exchange or refund. I said I'd take an exchange. I asked them about how we go about organising it on Sunday. Haven't had a reply yet... I know i'm nearly 19 hrs ahead, but I thought they might have replied by now. -
Talking of good deals, I got my Road Ready 2x18 on Ebay. It was an auction that finished at 7:00am on a Sunday morning and had a single £50 bid (from the seller) on it. I figured no-one would be up at that time and reckoned on a £75 bid with 30 seconds to go - got it for £62. It was only 40 miles to collect so no delivery either. Previously owned by Skunk Anansie (apparently) I shudder to think how much one of those was new!!
Now THAT is a bargain!!! Well done on that!! -
As in hums when you touch the poles? Have you tried just swapping the wires an ignoring the colour code? The wires fairly easily come off the solder lugs on the pickup and could have been put on wrongly on one of them, or both.
It hums and sort of pops loudly when you touch the pole pieces. you reckon I should have a go at swapping the wire around then? -
Hi guys, Recently dropped a brand new set of SPB-3's (which I got from eBay in the US) into my 73 Precision restoration project-last piece of the puzzle. Followed the wiring diargram to a T and there is a problem with earthing. I've had two different techs check it over, and both tell me the same thing: wiring's 100% fine, the pickup must have a fault of some kind it seems to be acting in reverse-earthing when you touch it! I've emailed the seller via eBay and am awaiting a reply. I've had a few sets of these pickups and never had any hassle with them before. Anyone had any similar experiences?

Hi guys, Anyone know if there is a 'head box' or sleeve out there to make the M-pulse 600 look a bit more like the Venture version here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mesa-Boogie-Bass-rig-M-Pulse-600-with-15-and-2x10-cabinets?item=120913249172&cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D1%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D8448953584204704263 I like the old-school look of the head in this example. It'd be great to track down something similar for my new Mesa...
No idea about the science but two 2x10s stacked vertically really do seem to do the job. I'd love to give two 2x15's a go.
+1 Sounded brilliant with the Micro VR and 2x 210 cabs any time I've gigged it Also, are we having juice or punch to go with the cake? -
I've got a few - some have the stripe, some don't. There is huge variation in the weights too. My sunburst one weighs hardly anything whereas my (formerly) Oly white one is the heaviest bass I've EVER lifted! And it's definately a CBS era production.

basshead56 replied to daveparker123's topic in Amps and Cabs
I love BIG amps (look at my sig) But, it totally depends on the gig for me. I no longer have any roadies or a big gear van, so can't bring my new Mesa 8x10 around to many places (hence why I'm after a smaller cab to match the M-Pulse,so I'm covered for all occasions) but totally would if I could. On the flipside, my Ampeg Micro VR and 2 210 cabs fit in the boot of my old VW golf and covered everything bar outdoor/open-air gigs. I did use PA support on 2 occasions with it, but that was the sound-tech's idea-it defiantely did not need it. Some of the newer lightweight stuff does sound bloody huge too, like MarkBass Orancge Terror and GenzBenz etc But nothing says badass rock n'roll like a big rig (SVT and 8x10/Marshall Stack etc)
