1. Yes, I have a couple. They are solid & reliable. There was a thread on them a while back, some said they were over-priced but I'm happy with mine
2. Welcome to Basschat - massive Steve Earle fan myself & nice to see Townes & the like getting referenced on these pages
3. reading his description I think he meant to list this at £150. They are nice amps, not £1500.00 nice amps, but nice amps nonetheless
4. Not really my thing but I love BBC4 music shows so I expect I'll tune in.
5. Never was but back in the 80s I only ever seemed to get handed basses in the shop by staff that were!
6. The image is important & I was interested reading Wil's post - I played in punk bands when I was younger & the image is very much there. I agree that both Boyzone & Slipknot have an image. You need to make an effort even if your look is "we don't make an effort". Some bands don't think about the image as such because they are all fans of the same music so the look is just naturally there - I assume this is what Wil is getting at? We're the same in my band. The drummer & the mandolin player don't tend to bother quite so much but the singer, guitarist & I are a right bunch of posers who frankly are all old enough to know better! Ahem
7. I didn't know these were 34" scale. I nearly bought one a couple of months ago but could only find short scale Gretsch basses. Sadly I no longer have the funds.

10. Never heard or seen those but Rickenbacker is always good in my experience. They have kept fairly exclusive and the quality always seems high.No idea how much a 2020 is worth but it's a rare Rickenbacker so I would have thought you'd do alright out of it. Google reveals it to be a bolt on neck apparently. There seems to be a bit of interest in them
11. I like both and own both. I was a maple worshipper for years but recently have been acknowledging the joys of rosewood. If anything I lean more towards rosewood these days after 20yrs of shouting about maple but I prefer the maintainance free nature of maple to messing around with lemon oil
12.
It's a different thing. Making arrangements to share kit in advance is one thing. The ranting in this thread is about people who turn up without their amp, assuming that they'll be able to borrow someone else's. That's disrespectful. S.P.
My previous post was connected with prior arrangements & again Saturday's gig is a kit share with other bass players using my rig; but yeah it would wind me up if somebody just assumed. I hate bad manners
13. Looks good and I can't see that one staying at £100.
14. Welcome Dave - hell of a way to go for a pint!

16. If you are playing it at home then at least you are playing it! I too own a maple Ric and I've always been a Fender player. As long as you get enjoyment from an instrument you should keep it
17. Just collected Rich's immaculate Ampeg USA SVT 210 cab from the fabulously named Flying Childers pub in the equally fabulously named Kirby Bellers. A great guy to deal with & he even bought me a pint which has rather raised the bar for any future basschat trades I do! Rich - as you can see it slots right in. Don't think the neighbours like it but it sounds awesome!

20. Welcome to Basschat Daniel
21. That's cool.... and I'll make a mental note to buy some new gear off you in 2010! There's an Epiphone Casino that floats around where I live that has always been sold on for £300 exactly. It's on at least it's 5th owner
