1. Welcome Bob. Bit of a Dennis Dunaway fan on the quiet myself
2.
is there a way you can find out? I think it would have been me mumbling about how I lost bass world and couldnt find basschat for a good few months
A mix of punk rock & Kiss for me. Mainly 70s. I bet I won't be the last person to mention Rancid's And Out Come the Wolves though
3. I mainly used a Precision in my punk days but did move onto a Jazz. I liked the growl! Turn the volume / gain right up before setting the overall level with the master volume. Plus a pick played up by the bridge and you are there. I've moved away from punk these days but that was how I did it back then and when I listen to those old recordings I like the sound (if not my playing!)
4. Hardly the most welcoming of introductions (but a Gold Star for smart pics), this was me... Oh & nobody replied!
I had an old 75 RI from 1999 that was stunning. It was a reluctant sale a couple of years ago
5. I joined the forum to chat but have bought & sold a fair bit since joining, probably 50/50 as a buyer / seller. I always lose money on gear but usually not a lot and I price to sell. Plus I'm no businessman! We all use the forum for different reasons and I take no issue with people who use the site to sell more than chat. Equally if people do pick up a car boot sale / EBay bargain & make a profit I think this is fine. I just find this more acceptable as an occasional happy accident rather than as a second business. It's a personal matter for each individual seller but I always donate to the site when I make a sale and think the moderating is very fair. No compulsory fee for listings or sales. I hope most others do the same. I must confess if it doesn't sell I tend not to donate. My concern is best summed up by an example at work. We can never park in the work car park as it fills up so quickly so the nearby Sainsburys started to let us use their car park. So we could park all day for free and not pay. What happened? You guessed it. A few people started to take the p*** by using it for Saturday shopping and Sainsburys withdrew the offer. Thankfully I think we're generally pretty good here and I'm sure a lot goes on behind the scenes with the mods that we don't see.
6. I used one back in the early 90s but have never done so since. A shame as I quite like them really

Hello

Welcome to Basschat Chris
8. Search "Bass thumb" and a few always come up on EBay. I've bought from here a few times http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/THUMB-REST-PRECISION...=item2c5669d86a
9. I agree with BassBus & Bilbo - sound advice!
10. I've never had any problems as a seller. My thoughts are; 1) Realistically list things and avoid all the cliches about how you are losing out and doing them a favour. 2) Always offer postage. My collection only sales went for considerably less. 3) Loads of photographs! 4) Use the immediate payment button in the listing to avoid timewasters. 5) Stick to EBays rules 6) Proof of Postage as a minimum. 7) Politely bat off any idiot low bids questions and don't take them personally.

Hello

Welcome to Basschat Joshua
12. Hi Sam, welcome to the forum
13. Welcome to Basschat Rik
14. If in order to be a 'bottom specialist' I have to play that, I will never be a bottom specialist
15.
Welcome to the complete Orange rig owners club....
Why thank you yorick. Very happy to be a member
16. Welcome to Basschat Mitch.
17. Bonjour Arnaud! (sadly my French ends here)
18. We've all been there, peaks and troughs! I'm sure things will change for all who are on the downside at the moment
19.
But they are more expensive, aren't they?
If you google around the 1x15 white cab goes for as little as £399 which is cheaper than the same model in Orange
20. It seems fitting that I'm the first to comment then Very nice! In terms of your pricing question, that knock is a fair sized one but not the end of the world. Assuming the rest is as you say, I'd wager you could go for £1250 - £1400. The higher end of that if that's the original case. You mentioned the possible U2 link in the other thread. As this can't be validated it *may* make a difference but because it can't be evidenced for certain I'd suggest it probably won't affect the price. I know a few people who've owned ex-big name players kit and without certificates of authencity it sadly becomes little more than just a cool story. My Ampeg SVT USA 15E is rumoured to be ex-Wurzels and I challenge anyone to come up with a cooler naff link! We have a few other 70s Fender players on here & I certainly would be interested to hear what they think price wise
21. OK, Glam Punk days from early 1996 and then a session I did over the summer for a friend so just a few months ago. Interestingly it's the same drummer & guitarist but a very different style. Both are just Fender Precision basses just DI'd
22.
Do they do them in black?
Yes, ironically. White too!
(she signed us up for some cat food stuff online today, We don't even have a cat !!!)
23. And as I liked the Orange head so much I took the plunge with the matching cab! Screamingly good fun and really punches out the tone!
24.
BUT... ON FRIDAY I WAS IN A BIG SHOW! SINGING AND PLAYING BASS! I'M BACK BABY! I NEVER EVER EVER THOUGHT I'D BE ABLE TO GET BACK ON STAGE AGAIN, AND I BLOODY LOVED IT!
Nice one, well done
25. I am tempted to put this in Gear Porn but wanted to share the virtues of signing up for shop emails. Following the soundcheck death of my Ampeg head I needed to get a small mini rig for the gigs where we don't take a van and space is an issue. We've stopped gigging for the rest of the year so I was in no hurry to get a spare second head. However, I had an email from Soundslive with a few discount codes. I was nearly tempted last year but didn't need any gear at the time. 15% off Orange was one offer so I took the plunge and bought the Terror Bass head. I liked it so much that I decided to go the extra mile and get the matching cab. To my incredible surprise I tried the same discount code again and it worked! So I've found the cheapest shop in the UK and saved an additional £130+ on this set up. So it never hurts to sign up for the newsletters etc, even when they start to feel like spam. Tonally, I'm very happy. There's enough on Basschat on how these rigs sound so I'll just leave it with some pictures
