having made loads of cabinets in the past, I suspect that by the time you have actually paid someone for the materials [plywood, covering, handles, sockets, grill cloth, corner protectors,] plus labour and his profit, you would find it cheaper to sell yours and buy a couple of second hand 4x10s Many years ago i foolishly cut an acoustic 406 2x15 cab in half, so I could get in in my car

if you buy a new mag cab, you will loose money when you sell it, If you buy a second hand ABM you could probably sell it for close to what you paid for it.

Companies who consistantly make bad product go out of business. I saw a basschatters new US fender precision a while ago, and it was awfull. It doesnt mean that all fenders are c... [although I would rather have a bob glaub.] One of the difficulties with a mass communication media like the internet is that it doesnt take that many people on an internet forum to crticise a product, before that product gets a bad reputation, and as quoted above, 'it was sufficient to put me off' I reckon if you like the eden sound ,get another one.

Well I bought a 50s P today from Guitar Village , great. Lovely finish, neck and fretwork excellent, dont like the bridge much, prefer the normal bent metal one, and I was prepared to swap out the pickup. Took it to a gig tonight with my US Jo Osbourne which is a lovely piece of kit. The jo stayed on the stand all night. The squier has got a real grunt, and a knockout bottom end. Its equally as good as my CIJ precision, and at that price point Fender have a winner. I think this stands up in its own right. Im not going to sand off the decal, and im quite happy to say im enjoying playing a squier.

I couldn't help thinking it was there for marketing rather than its contribution to the sound of the amp.[/quote] The pre amp valve used makes no difference,[someone told me all the electrical theory why it doesnt which I have forgotten] I like my WT 400, it is relaible and sounds great paired with over the period a 210xt with a 15 a 2x15 XLT and an ashdown 4x8 and a 1x15 The best thing to do is to go and try out a number of different amps. because no matter how hard people try to describe sound, it probably wont match up to the souind you hear in your head.

Do you need 2 400 watt amps? if not consider a s hand traveller Why not have the eden ovehauled gotta be cheaper than splashing out £500

I dip in to talk bass occasinally I used to visit the dudepit a lot, but now I read basschat instead

Her take is 'Who do you bunch of old farts think you are trying to relive your youth, Ive heard those songs so many times I can recite them in my sleep. The kids drag her out sometimes but often she would just as soon stay at home.

If you completetly fill the hole you run the risk of splitting the wood on your guitar.

Theres lots of little petty squabbles on the comittee, when the one person is voted off and replaced by a new one. One person I met cancelled all the dates so the new person had to do it all again, and another double booked loads of bands, and changed all the telephone numbers in the contact book so no one else knew who was playing when, and couldnt contact anyone to try and sort it out. On the other hand, some comittee people work very hard, get very little thanks, while the other club members contribute nothing, just moan and groan. WMC and the like are dying, and they dont seem to be able to attract the youngsters in. When I started in the 60s, i was playing the music of the day, to a mixed age group, and that continued through the 70s. Now the audience is generally a lot older, and they still want the same old stuff we were playing thirty years ago. If I am getting paid, I believe I have to follow whatever the rules of the place I am playing at or not take the gig. I once played in a function band, dickie bows and dinner jackets, where the drummer often brought his wife. We arrived at a gig in bournemouth once, and the promoter said to her , you are not appropriately dressed, there is no room, you will have to wait in the van or go home. Some places we play freely allow guests if they are signed in, some charge, others restrict to a maximum, some dont allow anyone other the band. This new years eve, we were offered tickets for wives etc, at the same price as club members, on a first come first served basis. I take the view that I cant bring my wife and Kids to work, asnd much as I may not like it, sometimes that happens when I play. Its up to me to make that decision.

I sad one at a show someewhere I recall. If I remember rightly it was something that was either programable or didnt have conventional knobs and switches. I got the impression it was either looking to be a much more modern amp than TE or it was designed and shown by an ex TE person and got nowhere because of lack of interest

I dont remember any clubs letting kids in on new years eve. Its not just the comittee its often the members themselves. People often come out to a club to get away from the kids, and if they want to get up and have a dance, its no fun for them if there are loads of kids running around. Where kids are allowed in, you often see the parents half pissed and the kids asleep on the benches. Im not taking sides, and I have two kids who can only come and see dad play on rare occasions, but I do see both sides of the argument.

These posts made me bimble off to my local music store and have a look at the precision, and the 50s precision, and I think they are great value foor the money. We are silly to ourselves really, skylines and tributes are considered really good instruments, but if its a squier, some people are a bit sniffy. i think the precision felt equally is good in my hands as does my MIJ and a new pickup is not expensive if you need to, and im going to buy a 50s reissue.

Voicing isn't different.[/quote] I hesitate to argue with an expert, but the bass lite i bought was not a stamped frame but cast, and the eminence spec describes the basslite as a cast frame aluminium chassis, The price quoted on my local supplier is £101 for a kappalite 3015, £104 for a basslite, and £90 for a deltalite. So far from being less expensive, its actually the most expensive.
