1.
Great thanks for that - I can therefore confirm it's a February '87 Big question now is whether that's when dwh was born, lol
March '87 which is close enough for me. If i get some good news in the next few days about when i start my new job and this is still around i will be in contact.
2. This could be twice the price and still be a great deal. If my new boss had pulled his finger out and sorted my job out instead of beating around the bush i would have had this away a long time ago.
3. Would it be possible for you to tell me which month in 1987 this was made in? I am trying to find a nice bass that is nearly the same age as i am. I am guessing the serial numbers worked in the same way back then as they do now.
4. The J series looks great. Very classy
5. I really wanted one of these a few years ago. A real shame i do not have the money now.
6. That is insane. I've seen these sell for £600-700
7. The 200 series is near the bottom of the pile when it comes to the ESP/ltd range. Good bang for your buck but nothing special. The real deal ESP stuff is truly awesome. Gibson have a few lawsuits out to stop them taking business away. I have never seen one of these in person but i am a regular poster on the ESP forum so i have a good idea of what they are like. The relic work is varnished over (which defeats the object) Guitar-village had the real deal ESP model on sale for £599 last year.
8. If they were not in the eBay auction pictures it could have been damaged in transit. A claim with royal mail (or other courier) might be an option.
9. I have always like that style of headstock on ESP basses Whoever gets this for £200 is a lucky guy/girl
10. My first bass was a milestone III. I traded in an epiphone SG400 for it. Nice slim neck, frets were all great and the fingerboard had an eyecatching figuring. The pickups were average and the input jack was shoddy until i properly fixed it up. Highly recommend as a starter or just something cheap to sling around.
11. Great looking bass and a nice price too. The quickest way to get some info on this is asking in the general discussion section of the ESP forum. A few guys there really know their stuff.
12. Thomann have added the new warwicks to their site
13. I am sure the Warwick Korean models will still be of good quality. In my eyes they are just upgraded Rockbasses. The price of some of them is crazy. The signature models are all around £1600. With the way thing are going 90% of companies need a cheapish range of instruments to survive. Zon and Overwater have overseas built models now. Guys like Ken Lawrence can keep busy by working off word of mouth and charge $8000 a go.
14. This is the first one i have seen for sale. Pretty rare at the moment i guess. Good luck finding it a new home.
15. I am guessing this bass is good by the positive reviews. I saw a new one today for £775 and might get it.
16. With every year and price increase it makes the used market look better and better. You can get the odd good deal and if you know the right people a friendly discount but the average Joe is getting priced out of the market.
17.
Dean Guitars and the John Entwistle estate will be unveiling two models of the new John Entwistle bass line at the 2011 Winter Namm show in Anaheim, California January 13th through 16th. According to John's son Chris Entwistle, the estate chose Dean because of their attention to detail plus their willingness and ability to bring the project to market swiftly without sacrificing quality. Steve Luongo, John's drummer and personal friend of 15 years steered the estate to Dean Guitars as he knew company CEO Elliott "Dean" Rubinson is a touring bass player who grew up on John's playing. "Brand was not as important to John as the actual playability and John would let the instrument do the talking" said Luongo. "John has been a huge influence on me and I am proud to be on the front line in the development of these instruments, also being able to play and hear them live on stage when playing with the Michael Schenker Group and Cactus" Rubinson said. The first two models in the new Entwistle line are 'The Spider' and 'The Hybrid', both made in Dean's legendary USA Custom Woodshop in Tampa, FL. Both of these USA models will incorporate the new Aphex Exciter/Big Bottom/Compression circuit on board, an industry first. There is also a Hybrid model that sells for under $1000. "I know that if John were here today he would love these basses" said company CEO Rubinson who will join Steve Luongo and Mark Hitt on stage at the Dean Guitars 2nd Annual NAMM JAM party, Fri. Jan 14th at The Grove of Anaheim, where the bass will be played in public for the first time
Thanks to the various sources over on the talkbass forum
18.
Wonder what kinda price they'll be....
The list prices are Pro series start around £900 The signatures are about £1500
19. I saw this about a week ago. Nothing blew me away to be honest. I expect the new Paul Grey ATK to be around for a year until a new guy gets it. Every year there is a thread on the ESP guitars forum that shows the best stuff from NAMM a good month before it happens.
20.
If they can put these out at around £300 they'll be a steal
After having a look on Warwicks site, the cheapest models are listed at just over £400. The Pro range is upwards from £898 and the cheaper version of the signature models float around the £1500. Even with some store mark down and haggling they are quite expensive. I dare not look at now much the ones made in Germany cost.
21. I posted this on the talkbass forum earlier but thought i would post it here too. Warwick
22. Wow, it's not often you see one of these around.
23.
I think it is simple - a bassist from Trivium is not going to have enough fans with money for BC Rich to put out a £3000 bass with all the trimmings. So they make one that will sell to the market that listens to Trivium the most. Exactly for the same (but in reverse) reason that Fender won't do a MIM Dave Gilmore strat. Signature models are in tribute to the artist - if you want the exact same instrument, then phone their custom shop just like the artist did. They will be happy to take your order.
I have to agree with all of this. Most trivium fans are well under the age of twenty and very few of them have the money to buy a US made bass with the spec the real deal has. The other sigs from the Trivium guys are reasonably priced for what they are. If the fan base of Pete Wentz was in their twenties and older instead of teens then his sig would be a fender and not squire. It is all about making money as easy as possible.
24.
I remember seeing this bass player a band in Edinburgh when I was a teenager who had an old Rick 4001 and he'd put a Strat pup in where the foam mute used to be. He said, as I recall, that it "brought out the highs"! What utter bullshit! I think he just had it in there as a conversation piece!!
Cliff Burton did this to his Rickenbacker and many Metallica fans have probably done it too.
25. I have one of these in green and they are great value for money. Specs should be Ovangkol neck with wenge board, bell brass frets, passive MEC pickups, Rock solid one piece bridge, Carolena body and Warwick branded tuners. I would be shocked if this is still unsold much longer.
