That looks awesome! I'm not a huge fan of burls, but yours looks very nice.

I love the pickguard, it looks almost swirled. Nice bass!
That looks really nice! May we ask what you eventually paid, or is that too rude?
£499 + (£18 a month for the internet connection through which I got emailed about the sale + about £5 of petrol to get to the shop and back )

That Spalted Maple 6 looks awesome, I would have tried to order it in if I knew they had any 6s Anyway, I made a thread for my Euro LX 5 in Amber

Totally badass Abalone+Pearl (I think) 12th fret inlay The action is a little too on the Bass side and pretty good on the Treble. It looks like it can go lower, but I like medium/high action on basses. I even have a cool serial number

Lets hope the huge sales don't saturate the market and ruin Spector resale value

Very nice, yours looks like it has a much more prominent flame compared to mine.
Hmmmm.... I fancy zebrano, black, red or black cherry....
I was at the Sheffield one, I think there was a dark red/cherry Rebop and a few in other colours. The red one might have been sold though, I saw a guy trying that Rebop when I was leaving with my bass.
-
As a FYI, Reverb (Sound Control) are flogging Spectors, Rebops at £299 and Euros at £499. Probably cheaper than you can find them used.
Nice one thedonutman - pleased with it? As a matter of interest, what else did they have in stock?
They had a few rebops at £299, and two Euro 4s. One in that natural oil colour and one in a red colour. I think considering how I spent the last 48 hours being paranoid about it being sold to someone else, I should be pretty pleased

I just picked up my amberburst LX5 this morning. Even waited outside from 9:30 to be the first one in the shop, incase somebody else bought it.Now, What if I managed to sell this for a profit and buy another one
Like a complete arse - I drove to Sheffield this morning...only 90 miles and ..."they're bound to be open"....ahem, got their at eleven after making several calls en route to see if they were open and...they were closed. Silly me. So I rang the branch in Brum to ask if all branches were open on Sundays and he said no so I told him my plight and he said ..."oh yeh, we've got 3 Euro 5LXs - any colour you like so long as it's black cherry". Guess which colour I ordered? Nearly got back late for this afternnon's gig -M62 closed at Manchester - horrific accident.
Ah, well I called them about 20 times today, about three times every hour to find out when they open . I think I'm gonna go in first thing tomorrow morning, since I'm pretty close to it. Are those black cherry ones all in that one store? The one in Sheffield was/is amberburst.

I've crumbled already, I'm going in first thing tomorrow morning to see if they are still there. If the 5 is gone, I'll probably get the 4, sell it or trade it and get a 5.
Where where where??????
My local Reverb (aka Sound Control) has a Euro 5 and three Euro 4s, all for £499 each. Apparently a lot of the stock got bought very cheaply during the takeover, so they can sell it for very cheap. Too bad there is no way I can justify spending that much money on a bass right now, even if a Spector Euro 5 string is one of my dream basses.

I was in Reverb (Sound Control) today, guess what? With their big ass sale on, they've got Spector Euros going for £500! Not Rebops, proper neck-thru Euros! Too bad I have no money though.
Some nice kit on here folks! heres my beast
I've got the 30w version of that. I still use it for band practices when I don't want to carry around my head+cab.

I think Sterling Ball once said in an interview that putting aftermarket pickups in a EBMM instrument is like "putting a Toyota engine in a Ferrari" or something along those lines. Red+Black could look cool.

I've done grade 5 theory (associated board) since I've done grade 7 piano and grade 6 clarinet with them. But the Associated board only do classical guitar. When you say the scales are difficult to learn, do you mean that I have to remember loads of patterns, or the patterns are hard to play?

Hey, I'm going into 6th form in September and I've started thinking about my university application, and I've realised that I have almost no non-academic stuff I can put on my university application. I've decided to take some bass (and or) electric guitar exams. After some research I've found that you can do RGT or Rockschool exams. Anyone have experience for both of these? I had a look at the syllabuses for both and it seems that Rockschool is more performance based whereas RGT is more theory based. I'm trying to decide which is best for me in terms of which I will find easier and which will hold more weight on a university application, I'm leaning towards Rockschool because although I know general theory (since I play piano and clarinet) I don't actually know that much guitar/bass specific theory. The next question is - what grade should I do? I've been playing for about 4 years and had a few lessons about 2 years ago, where I was told I could do grade 5 if I learned some scales and worked on improvisation. I was hoping to jump straight in at grade 6, 7 or 8. Judging by the guitar books I've seen and the videos of people playing the pieces on Youtube, they don't seem particularly hard, but I suspect I'd have to put a lot more work into the other areas. I wouldn't consider myself a particularly spectacular bass player, but I feel that might just be because I've not tried to learn any particularly challenging pieces. As a side note, can anyone recommend any bass teachers in Sheffield? I've found a few on the internet/yellow pages, but I'd rather find one that someone else can recommend.

Maybe he does some crazy two handed tapping that requires both necks to be used at once or something?

(Unintended thread hijack) I've seen a lot of Omni 10 builds around here lately. Do you just buy the plans from BFM and source all of the speakers, plywood, tolex etc yourself and build it according to his dimensions? How hard is it for someone with basic woodworking skills? It says "Construction Degree of Difficulty: 3" on his site, but I guess that doesn't really mean anything if you don't have anything to compare it to.
