1. I went to Electric Wood in the early 80's and met Wal and Pete... nearly ordered one but didn't have the sponds... bought a new SB1000 fretless instead... bloody fine bass... now in the OGG for sale... oh well.
  2. I added the ashtrays and tugbar for the vintage vibe, although I've removed the pup cover.

    Wals at OGG

Yes but the Wall fretless looks fantastic!
  4.
Let's have a piccy of the bass then, so we can see the bit of walnut in question!
Exactly... although it'll look nice without a pickguard I'm sure. I removed the p\g off of my '62 Jazz (brown tort!) and now it wont fit back on! I know with some jazzers there's a routing channel that makes this not an option.

  6.
Guys - note I've edited this - the body has a route beneath the scratchplate for 2 PP3's - so many bottles of wine - so few brain cells left!!
That's a shame... I like the sans pickguard option on a Jazz.
  7. Went to the Guitar Gallery in Oxford at the w/e to see why my SB1000 isn't shifting and jaw hits knee... then floor! http://www.oxfordguitargallery.com/Specials/Default.aspx Click the bass tab at the top.
  8. Distinct lack of piccys on this thread... My MiM P modded... sounds and plays fantastic... Had to remove pup cover... oh well.
  9.
Respect due to BH2 but I wouldn't have the frets stoned down - it's probably not much slower in actual working hours to whip them out and fill the slots - this way you won't get uneven wear, sharp ends sticking out the sides and empty slots when they (inevitably) fall out! That is unless you want the whole lot encased in 3mm of epoxy....
yes... I'm thinking of wood shims or glueing in the tangs. Still a wip.
  10.
You missed one ...
Heh... it fell out at a gig!

    SB1000 is SOLD
I saw the bass today, I popped into the Gallery for a browse. Looked pretty nice - no idea about the price though. Good luck ped
Ahh... you're local to me then...? It's going for £700.
  12. I had mine stoned down to the tangs...

Cripes... sorry to hear about your neck probs kjm... surely there must be some way you can continue playing. I'd love this bass as a replica project but I've no funds at the mo... I'm sure it'll go though.

    SB1000 is SOLD

I'd hang on to that Randy... mine has to go however.
  15. That's a beauty! I wish I had some spare sponds!
  16. I'd like to find the stuff that was plastered over my 78 Ray when I bought it... a sort of sweet , waxey smell it had. I remember this smell from guitar shops of yore but have never found out what it was!
