rotosounds all the way. flatwounds on the hoyer and roundwounds on the olp 5-string. not too sure about the gages though. -

i have a hoyer eb-3 copy.

i stick my bass though a danelectro 'daddy o' distortion. sound like a heavy baritone when i use it for power chords but i use flatwound strings so don't loose the bottom end thump.

4 strings all the way but i do have an OLP 5 string as a back up bass.
