1. Think you need to haggle with the Gallery Toasted.. as they (or someone) told me when i erm...thought there prices were rather high
2. As far as i know Jam Guitars are the only dealer...they have had those two in stock for a long time
3. Well Robbie likes it...Top sessions robot on the forbidden planet...Sorry im an idiot
4. >quote> Chrome Saveloys!!! hilarious....Bangers in spaaacceee
5.
The best Shuker I've ever played doesn't come anywhere close to the worst Fodera. They're not even playing the same sport.
???...im guessing this may be down to personal taste...i very much doubt they are that far apart in construction/playablity... not many NYC players using Shuker's either
6. they are great basses im sure...but you would be amazed how people get seduced by a high price tag.....£5- 6000.. oh its got to be the best there is surely!! this goes for lots of consumer items
7. I have a rehearsal next wednesday in Bristol and was wondering what you all thought of the music, and how you might approach it..... its not what i usually play, but i like it..Love the lyrics from Jess... also love the violin in some songs.... So called Love is a great tune...a little latin in its feel..? ...and i love playing with a latin feel... yes i hear the sloppy drumming and bass playing??!!..how does this happen when recording? its almost as if a bass would ruin the acoustic feel of the songs ( apart from the said song) so im very sensitive to not change that too much...i have some bass lines that may give it some great melodic bass foundation.. What would you take Fender or Sei?..ok active or passive... Would love to hear your thoughts on the music and the way YOU may would play the bass lines...remember i am left open on what i can play (which is fantastic)!!.any input is much appreciated... 8.
The extra £800.00 would comfortably put you in Alleva/Celinder territory.
ah...didnt spot that....did i mention Alleva and Celinder?
9.
Yes you can buy a £250 Squier but you'd be crazy spending £600 on upgrade bits. The most you should spend would be £100 on a pair of pickups and £15 on decent pots / input jack & wiring. Anything other than that would be madness, and you'd be better off buying Fender rather than Squier.
You could be right B5 and im sorry you had a bad experience...but with a bit of tweaking, im sure you still got a good bass there though
10. Oh this is nice...never seen one on here..
11. I would say there is not a huge difference in say a Squire and a Fender tone wise...Squire are on there game.. ok the wood maybe better on the Fender and i do believe that the wood is the core of the tone, but who cares? Standard Fenders dont use master grade wood... i have heard a Squire and Fender side by side and there aint that much difference....If i was on a budget (erm which i am at the mo) i would get the squire, stick in some Nordy's, an OBP2 with a BAII and finish it off with a set of DR's... there you have one smokin bass...
12.
For that money these would not be new but...... The Alleva Coppolo's are expensive but they are great playing basses. I've had a couple of Sadowsky's, they didn't really float my boat but I did try a four string a couple of years ago that I really liked. Celinder also makes fantastic basses. If I had to pick only one bass it would be........................between Celinder and Alleva - not bothered. Edited to add that you could search for longer and find an equivalent Fender - I played two brilliant Fenders last week. One of them only cost a few hundred pounds too!(Japanese)
Very much doubt you would find an Alleva for 1300 maybe a Celinder..i could be wrong.. Jazz of some sort? Lakland 44-02 is pretty versatile not sure if Sadowsky is a do all bass? I played a Low End and it was damn versatile! or what Hamster said...
13.
Hi A, hows it going? The Status does get a fair amount of use (in the trio I also play in) but for this band there's a 'need' to use something a bit more 'traditional' looking. The 30th is a bit smoother, more refined than the maple board standard Ray that it replaced but at the end of the day it's still an active single pup bass. I'm sure that a 2010 Jazz would suit (or a Lakky JO) but it would mean ousting the Ray - not an easy decision (as these don't come up everyday).
Good ta Mart...i would give the Ray a bit of time...rash changes in bass like these end in tears ( i know )...i personally liked Labella flats on my Jazz..of course you cant expect the zing of the rounds your used to, but thats not the point...Eq'd right (roll off the mids in the S4 case)they can sound really nice..Lovely lovely lovely, i will add wonderful smooth to the touch feel, they give also...slide vibrato heaven Although a respected ear is due to any band member, it seems a little harsh for you to take it to sell/change your bass... im sure you are... but think it over and cover all options
14. an Fbass is top of my gas list..PM,d
15. Have you tried the Status for the band..? The S4 sure does have some punch, but it depends on the fingers.... have you asked the other band members what they think... im a big Jazz fan and i think everyone should have one in there arsenal....Get a new Fender 2010 and im sure you and they will love it...
16. You really need to listen to them, because they can be very diverse if you think of the difference between 'Colibri', 'Jacobs Ladder' and something like 'Living against the river'... best albums for me in this order.. Tribes Vibes and Scribes Positivity Tales From the Beach.... to be honest this is BS they are all very good in there own way...brilliant bass playing on all!!
17. WOW
18.
Fantastic track! Who is the bass player? Is this DVD released?
Francis Hilton pete...dont know about the dvd..
19.
The 80's was THE year for metal. But for pop.... to me it represents everything bad about the music. Too much synths and poor sounding programmed drums... Nasty...
it wasnt all programmed drums!?
20.
FENDER American P Bass and case. Absolutely as new (still has poly on the tuners) Olympic White/Maple/Tortie P bass and SKB case. I bought this a few months ago, and the first thing I did was put a set of DR Sunbeams on, took the poly off the pickguard and tried it out. A day or so later, I saw in the Basschat ads that a similar P bass was up for sale, with a full Sadowski makeover (extra J pickup, new P and active preamp fitted), so I had to have that, and put this bass away, never to be touched again. Its a 2009 model, everything in the case (full candy included) is dated 2009, but the serial number sems to infer its a 2008, but it was certainly a 2009 purchase new from a main dealer. Anyway, not a lot to say, other than its gorgeous, and I would like £695 for it please, no trades. I am still trying hard to cut back on the number of basses I have, but it can sometimes be like deciding which of your children to sell to slavery...... Bob
looks a sig...
