1.
I guess the way this thread will end up will be a classic example of exactly why a lot of name players don't sign up to the forum and share their views with us. They will just get flamed by the 0.1% of trolls on here. Soz, just my view of it.
maybe it is for some, but for the most part, i really dont think its because of that reason..there not that thin skinned surely.. i asked Julian Crampton if hes come on BC, and he said he just doesnt get the time...
 2.
I keep thinking I would love to play a 5-er as those low notes would be great for metal... so now and then I drop into the local music store to try some out, but I just can't get on with any of them. I can't put my finger on what the problem is, but none of them feel right. Has anyone else had this problem when trying to find a 5, or make the transition? What did you do? Just buy one and hope it grew on you, or stick with the 4's?
are you sure your not getting 'not getting on with it' confused with not spending enough time with a 5.. you need time to get used to it maybe.. after that time yo may still not feel comfortable... try a smaller necked 5 maybe.. i know i found going from a jazz 4 to a Sei 5 very easy once you get your fretboard knlowledge down.. it had a great thin neck..same as an SR5.. whereas a Lakland 55-01 was a bit more changelling, and a TRB6 more so.. there is nothing physically stopping you making that transition...it just takes time.. What 5's did you try?

 17.
I have uummmmed & rrrrrrrrrrddd about selling my stingray 5 sevral times and now realised how much I love the SR 5 bass. So much so that i would love to get another SR5 in white with matching headstock Trapped GAS is a terrible thing
ive come and ive gone..i will always be a Jazz man..but the tone and feel of a Stingray 5 just gets me..its the quality, tone, weight, narrow neck... Randy 'Hope' Taylor plays one on a certain album and it sounds so good.. although not a truely versatile bass, it covers lots...

 19.
This one B5! http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=119504&hl= Like me you were a prat to sell the first one ....... But we all have our reasons.
HAAAAAAAAA!.. ive got my SR5 back... ...get it back next week from a lovely chap... cant wait to put it through the Aguilar again.. you can tell i loved this bass.. i wanted this bass back more than any other ive owned...its funny how basses go and come around again..
 20. I used to have my strap very high. i used to wear the bass just under my chest..to be honest its because i thought it looked cool..as im getting older its getting lower, im only talking inches mind.. the most comfortable position for me is with the upper bout (inner arm down from the elbow) on the bottom of my rib cage.....(and its comfortable). some say way down low looks cool, but i cant work out how that is efficient for playing.. but i guess i used to do it... just higher up...fashion is a cripling thing.. im sure its gonna get lower.. i tried an old Sadowsky strap ive got, thats very high, and i hated it... way too high.. feels like im trying to get something out of an L shaped box with my plucking hand.. my old Brooklyn Gear strap is spot on... Whats your pref?
 21.
Pretty tricky to keep playing 1/16ths whilst reaching over to tune... and not dropping a beat! It could be done if his right hand continued to hammer the notes but that doesn't look/sound to be the case. Saying that, there's nowt worse than thinking you are out of tune with the rest of the band and you are mid song.
ahh.. couldnt watch the vid..bad internet.. maybe he has OCD? i had it for years when i was younger...
 22. it happens to everyone, doesnt matter if hes a pro.. he may be hearing something thats not to his liking..Ive seen Victor Wooten do it mid song.. maybe he was having tuning gear issues? it happens..
 23. I saw Julian Crampton playing an MIJ Jazz at the jazz cafe..he has played with some greats.. he let me play it in the dressing room backstage too. the guitarist who was incredible was playing a Squire strat... its all in our minds..
 24.
Wow! Great idea. Unfortunately it's as ugly as the bass player with the BB on the last photo I was really hoping to find a good quality old style or tweed type case, but not the Fender one, my mate's got one and it's falling apart, they're £160 odd too
Most of those old style cases weigh a tone.. cant think of a maker who makes em like the Fender ones...i sh*t you not the case weighed as much as the bass..
 25.
Sent an email to Tanglewood and got a very nice and extremely quick reply from their customer services team (nice one Tanglewood). Apparently the basses ship to shops the week beginning 21st Feb and one of the signed up dealers to receive a first lot is about a 10 minute walk from me in Cheltenham....OH YES!!!!
Is that RoundAboutSound NJE?
