  1. surely it depends on the music you're playing. you change your tone for that. reason.?
  2. bubinga5

    Xotic

Ive also had a hankering for an Xotic XJ5. Do they have 70s spacing like my Atelier or are they strictly 60s.?
  3. Im aware that some of the amps are made in China now like the the WTX500/264 but where are the XLT cabs made. Marshall in the UK.? do they still make them.? What are they like, if anyone has any experience of them. Im looking at an XLT 115.for some oomph
  4. These AZ's are the real deal. Amazing instruments.
  5. There was a certain time in Bobby Womacks recording career when he recorded some absolute classic soul funk. apart from the other two greats, this is one of them.
  6. Easily in my top 5 soul funk records of all time. its just fantastic Bobby Womack.
  7. Bargain for a bass like this. Ive owned 6 55-02s an amazing 5 string.
  8. got any more pics Jay. could you meet up or is it the special hotel room only.?.😆
  9. Ive had a Vintage VJ4 and a Squire CV 70s as back ups within 2 months of playing both. . The Vintage was a 2020 and the CV was a 2021. I can only give my opinion on the feel/build quality of the VJ4 Im not sure about the V4's tone of course.. But for what its worth. Both were not equal. Imo the Vintage was really not good. Sharp fret ends, Just felt cheap. The bass I owned had an East preamp so the tone was good, god knows why someone put a class preamp in an instrument like that. But I really didn't like the feel of it at all. Only my opinion of course. Recently I owned a Squire CV 70's P bass. What a difference. Really great feeling, great playing passive P bass. When I picked it up it just felt good.. I have a vid somewhere with me doing a demo on a CV. I think once you have tried one bass from a brand and it wasn't good it puts you off. Its funny because I got my BC name from a Vintage. My first bass 21 years ago was a Vintage V950 made from bubinga. IMO. Squire every time. The CV's are killer for the price.
  10. I had given up on jazz basses to be honest and I had this up for sale. then I played and got to know this Atelier Z . Just an incredible instrument. Its hard to describe how fat and huge this 70s jazz bass sounds, not many people mention the necks on these basses. .the action is crazy low and has that growly string sound going on. I thought the Lakland 5594 was a fantastic instrument but this AZ blows it away. Did you find a keeper.?
  11. 147 minutes of the master.
  12. Wow I love this.
  13. ffs this little mother.
  14. Love this guy. reminds me of my childhood with Ozrics.
  15. This album is just fantastic.
  16. I think they should pay the flipper more for dancing for that long.
  17. There seems to be a current trend in Drill rap to talk about raping women and stabbing people. Im not sure what the difference is from these guys to NWA and other gangster rappers talking about shooting people and raping women. At least NWA did offensive well and used some great samples etc. These wxxkers seem to make their music on a Casio keyboard. Seems to me this is more of a society problem than a musical problem though.
  18. Ok thanks for the info. I dont really need a lightweight cab which is good as there seem to be more available. I had an Aguilar gs212 the weight was managable and that was 70lbs.
  19. Ive been told its 400w rms
  20. Does anyone know about the EBS evolution proline 2000 115 (non tweeter) cab. ? is it a cheaper version of the EBS cabs.? Ive found one for £200. Does this sound about right.?
  21. These were around £650 when they came out in 2005. I bought a tobacco burst one brand new back in 2006 I think. They were all Quilted maple apart from a black one. I owned it for a few years. sounded great, nice and light too. Cant remember the neck profile but it wasnt super skinny if i remember. I thought the electronics sounded great. A really nice bass.. i think £400 is a bit steep mind. a Talkbass link with more info. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/2-octaves-1-bass-the-fender-jazz-bass-24-thread.1242462/
  22. Travis Dykes. Yup.
  23. One of my favourite band are mezzoforte and one of the unknown great bass players is Johann Asmundsson.
