1.
Cool playing and musical slap. Too much technique in the second one for me. Too far removed from what is needed and not what can be rammed in but the first vid is a great example of playing something cool that works without being too flashy! P.s. Fixed so people can actually watch them and not have to faff with the links!
sorry dude, I'm only getting links with my posts. don't know why.
2.
His thumb freaks me out.
great for double thumbing and love making apparently.
3. I've seen a few vids from a guy called Valter Kabas. . i really liked his slap playing on this classic. its one of the coolest most musical slap parts, that just work so well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOJzRxlBRhI but this doesn't work so well. I like to think i know what sounds good, and for me this slap bass guitar doesn't on this record. it seems a classic example of slap bass used where it shouldn't be. i just get the impression he's not thinking about the record/music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLmnKiuSy-Y i don't want to knock anyones playing. although the skills are there, you can't apply those slap skills to everything. skills aren't the basis for taste i reckon. i guess i like simple musical slap.
4. aint it good when just stumble across music/people/musicians like this.. both fantastic. thanks for sharing Fionn

7. no matter the music genre, there are good and bad music vids, live or other. some taken by a crap phone camera, or by pro cameras and sound equipment. anyways this has got be a favourite of mine. Raphael Saddiq is great, and the singer at 7.45 is off the wall good. its only from my own musical perspective of course, but i like to post music that i reckon is great, and if I'm going post my sh*t i want it to be in the best possible quality.!!!! anyways. here is some great stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDsHJW5E1zk whats your favourite quality music vid.
8. Pino Palladino. no doubt. a huge amount of knowledge does that man hold.
9. i know many have seen this vid but i was watching the DVD this evening with a friend.. I'm sure it would be great for those who haven't. i have every album Maceo has ever recorded, but i still watch this and think WOW. just epic funk from a master, of a grand master. Jerry Preston's bass playing is just sublime laid back cool. watcha say, GOOD GOD.! HORNS.! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABLwmYI09Lw
10. im not one for telling anyone to give up Bass. but i will say if there is no interest in music, its going to be harder. keep going though, find a teacher. a band. things may change.
11.
Donny Hathaway - absolutely fantastic singer and a great keys player too. His daughter is one of the vocal coaches and sings backing on American Idol. They had a guy doing 'Song for you' about 5 years ago, and he made a pretty good fist of it : didn't win of course, far too able an not bubblegum enough, but worth watching : http://m.youtube.com...h?v=cxabseOoVQQ
i don't mean to be rude but I'm going to be. i would rather stick a screw driver in my eye than be subjected to that. call me a snob, but i will never recognise stupid TV programs to be anything close to the music that i feel should be projected. nothing to do with my taste. even if it was my taste it would be better than the drivel that commercial tv has got to offer. . prob sounds over the top. but i do hate these terrible programs. they have nothing to do with music. rant over.
12. dont do Nija thing Dingus. tell me what you really think.

25. i stumbled across this vid yesterday. I had he pleasure of seeing these guys/girls at the NEC many years ago, and they really were incredible. the bass player was off the wall. but what was really incredible was Charlie Wilson's voice. i don't know if anyone has seen this band live but i sh*t you not Charlies's voice is just something else. i thought Anita Baker was good live. just reminded me of seeing/hearing him. i remember his voice was so powerful, proper gospel power.. this sort of music keeps a smile on my face. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNbvXwjB6ts
