I've seen a few vids from a guy called Valter Kabas. . i really liked his slap playing on this classic. its one of the coolest most musical slap parts, that just work so well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOJzRxlBRhI but this doesn't work so well. I like to think i know what sounds good, and for me this slap bass guitar doesn't on this record. it seems a classic example of slap bass used where it shouldn't be. i just get the impression he's not thinking about the record/music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLmnKiuSy-Y i don't want to knock anyones playing. although the skills are there, you can't apply those slap skills to everything. skills aren't the basis for taste i reckon. i guess i like simple musical slap.

no matter the music genre, there are good and bad music vids, live or other. some taken by a crap phone camera, or by pro cameras and sound equipment. anyways this has got be a favourite of mine. im not one for telling anyone to give up Bass. but i will say if there is no interest in music, its going to be harder. keep going though, find a teacher. a band. things may change.

i stumbled across this vid yesterday. I had he pleasure of seeing these guys/girls at the NEC many years ago, and they really were incredible. the bass player was off the wall. but what was really incredible was Charlie Wilson's voice. i don't know if anyone has seen this band live but i sh*t you not Charlies's voice is just something else. i thought Anita Baker was good live. just reminded me of seeing/hearing him. i remember his voice was so powerful, proper gospel power.. this sort of music keeps a smile on my face. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNbvXwjB6ts
