Yep and the English keep on beating Australia,
'Well, they have to have some nation the can win against?' - my Aussie missus!!! Oh, that reminds me: Paul the Octopus has chosen Spain over Holland. Anyway, OMC, post some pix, mate' would be nice to see these fellas. -
Whatever it is, I'll have an ounce.
And I don't even smoke, but I want some of those positive vibes he's got!! The bridge has been moved backwards, too.
Thank's for the comments. regarding the bridge, it is original and as someone already said, it is not a badass bridge. it is schaller 3D. i've thought about putting it up on ebay but sweden does not have the possibility to do so, so i would have had to use ebay uk or germany instead but then the freight/shipping costs will be very wrong and i don't know how to do solve that with paypal and everything. this seemed much easier.
Ok I accept that, but I'm still convinced that the early model I saw did not have that bridge. The strings went over the bridge without going through a back plate. There's an ad on the net somewhere and you can see this. Anyway, pedantry over.
Broadly agree about the BA - an overhyped, 2-ton, crudely-hewn lump of slag that in 1-to-1 tests appears to kill tone rather than enhance it - but what's wrong with the Schaller? J.
Och, it's just me. I just don't like the look of either, no matter what tone they help impart to the instrument. Didn't the early Warwicks come with those Schallers? I kinda got back to thinking that one reason Fenders sound the way the do is cos of the bridge and I came to appreciate that. Curious about that test you've mentioned: any links?

Hhmmm... they do look like completely different pickups. TBH, I've never seen a Fender Jazz with only one set of pole pieces. My guess is a dud pole rather than the spacing. I'd get the swapped out for something decent and no need to waste money ona J-retro, fine thing that it is, but that isn't where your problem lies. Check your measurements for you may need to ge a luthier/repairman to do a wee bit of extra routing.

Metallica's Trujillo Rescues Jaco Pastorius' Bass of Doom
Re-recorded over his parts on Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman so that Ozzy could avoid paying the royalties that Bob was owed (Mike Bordin also re-did the drums).
That's a b***ard, that! I had that done to me, years ago. Singer's boyfriend overdubbed my Ricky 8-string parts (they were great) with a DX7 synth bass patch. I've never forgiven the c***. Anyway, sorry for thread deviatioN! -

I still reckon there was a second Jazz on the go, somewhere along the line. And I don't mean the one with the P-bass neck. Who is the dude with the pixelated face?? -
p.s i never liked jason, not a big fan of Cliff's tone, loved his playing but couldnt listen to him for long where as Rob i can listen to all day and never get bored.
I don't think Metallica liked Jason much, either, judging by the way they could treat him. A story I love, simply because it is so cruel, is the one where they're all at some restaurant and Jason wonders what the green paste is on Hetfield's plate. It turns out to be wasabi but Hetfield tells Jason it's guac. Jason, never having heard of or tasted wasabi before, believes him and fires in, shoving a serious helping of wasabi into his gob! -
A few weeks ago the story was that he had helped the Pastorius family get the bass back, now it seems he owns it but will sell it to them at the price he paid for it? This is the guy who had no problem shafting Bob Daisley, I suppose. Anything's possible.
Intrigued. What did he do?? -
Cheers. However I think I'd like to include attachments as proof. Do you have an email address I can use for this? I've been on their site but can't find anything appropriate.
Sorry, all done by post. I had to print the pix off and send 'em. -
Hmm. Any ideas how much the import duty is? If not, know how I could find it out?
The duty, from what I can make out, is 3.7%. Add that to the overall value then add VAT to that figure. -
Wouldn't it just be easier to make sure they use the correct code in the first place or am I missing something? I'd rather them get it right first time than go through a load of hassle later.
I quite agree but the onus is on the UKBA to apply the correct code. Sure you could ask your seller to put it on the docket but what if they refuse? This may sound like a bit of rant on my part but we're not here to do the UKBA's job for them or make it easy on them. I personally do not agree with paying duty and VAT on second-hand kit but if I'm going to live with it then I want it done right! I've just done a rough calculation on the guitars and basses I've imported from outside the EU over the past ten years and I reckon UKBA/HMRC have diddled me out of approx £200. As to hassle, I'm with you on that but there's also something satisfying about catching out a Government department not doing its job right and getting a refund offa them. Stacker - 2 UKBA - 0 -
