  1. As fretmeister says, good for him; and I would add, "so what?" Business is tight these days, the industry has changed, and very few manufacturers give away gear these days unless you have a Grammy, and if you do have a name/influence then that is worth something, of course... naive to think otherwise. As well as being a genuinely really nice guy, Mr Miller must be a very astute business man, given the relationship he has evolved with Sire. Good luck to him, and good luck to Mark King too... And by the way, doesn't nearly every professional sportsman have deals with clothes, footwear, sports equipment brands... I don't know why so many people discuss stuff like that here as though its dirty money and a bad thing... Its just business. Perhaps were all just jealous.
  2. Really? Not in my experience...
  3. Or it will exceed expectations and we'll all be back for more... See you there hopefully! Crikey this thread has made dismal reading from time to time, and not just this post! The show website is being added to fairly regularly, both in terms of artists and exhibitors, and it certainly won't be a success if it is not supported by both the community and the industry, and I for one don't have any issues about allowing guitarists to share our event if it means that it attracts the likes of Fender and Ibanez and other names who (while they may not be your cup of tea!) definitely wouldn't be there if it was a bass only show... If anyone is interested in going, then go, and if it doesn't meet your expectations, you'll then be fully qualified to an opinion. Oh, and bass players will always rule... and some of us prefer to be glass half full types...!
  4. "...and I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those meddling kids....!" (Scooby doo!)
  5. They are sooo comfortable, really soft leather, and I love the quick release buckles... The ends stay permanently on the strap buttons!
  6. Thank you! The new one is a Limelight... the lightest one Mark has made yet, at 7.4 lb on my bathroom scales! It has an ultra-light relic, as I just wanted it to match the "self-made" mojo of my JV, which I've had from new (1982) rather than looking beaten up! I think he's done a cracking job.
  7. They just work! I have been exclusively playing Lakland 5 strings for the last 5 years, but I have been finding the necks and 35" scale length harder to work with, so in my 60s band I want back to using my JV... it was like reuniting with a long lost lover!
  8. Newly landed...! Mark reckons its the lightest "P" they've made yet... Here she is with my BFL '57 JV for company!
  9. My 37 year old "BFL" '57 JV has a new pal! Tasty, and sounds awesome... I also made a mistake with the new strings for it.... ordered some new Elixirs (all my basses get Elixir 14077 Nickels) and without noticing I accidentally pulled the trigger on Stainless Steels.... however, I am a complete convert! lower tension, and easier to play....
  10. Guys, please read the rules. No trade offers in the sale thread. if you want to make an offer cash or trade, it must be done in a personal message, not here.
  11. Thanks Guys, I think we're all of the same opinion...!
  12. So, the story here is I was sold this as a PB62. The listing was very detailed, but there were only three rather blurry pictures, so I had to take a punt, but I am pretty sure from what I have been told, that this is not what I thought I was buying, but is actually a Japan domestic market "Standard" precision... if that is so, then it is A. not what I want or ordered, and B. not worth the same money... I could really do with an expert opinion here @LukeFRC maybe? Thanks guys!
  13. Help needed... This is a reasonable MIJ Precision from 1994-5, but exactly what model is it please? I'm pretty sure it's not a PB62 Vintage Reissue...?
  14. I have both ZS and AS10s as backups... I have to say I much prefer the AS. They feel much more controlled and tighter bass response. Maybe not so suitable for reference listing pleasure, but for IEM use they are much more detailed and controlled... I play bass and sing BV, and the separation is great. IMHO the AS are easily as good as the Shure. A different fit, they are bigger, but I can live with that.

  16. Hi Bill you have PM and FB messages..!
  17. I have an Italian leather Markbass Strap to put in the raffle... One of these: Markbass Strap I'll see if I can blag anymore MB goodies from MSL!
  18. Or even a Squier Jaguar. I just bagged one as a backup to my P, and it is stupidly good for the money if you can find one!
  19. New IEM system from LD... Looks like they are going further up market... https://blog.adamhall.com/en/2019/03/27/press-ld-systems-will-present-the-u500-in-ear-monitoring-systems-at-prolight-sound-as-part-of-their-repositioning/
  20. Just turn up, shell out a tenner (a bargain!) and you'll be made most welcome! The food will be bloody great too! Make sure you bring your new Ray! I'll be bringing a bunch of markbass stuff!
  21. No, but I can bring my Multiamp..? It's been around a while now, but still one of the best for bass amp modelling (and I went though a phase of trying quite a few!!)
  22. I'll be bringing my STD121HRs (I sold my TRV cabs and now use a pair of these). I can probably get hold of a NY121 too, as they sound completely different....
  23. Crikey, I'm well past showing off! No, just a bit of floor space and somewhere to plug stuff in is all! I'll see if I can blag some raffle prizes if you do such a thing... I'm doing the same at the SW Bash next month, which I have attended twice now ('cos I live fairly locally)... I'll probably spend more of my energy on the day spouting about how brilliant Mr Chown's new NT basses are... so good I have just ordered two! I'm praying they'll arrive in time for the bash, but that's probably expecting way too much..!
