I don't think it's a decision that needs to be made - I play about 50/50 fingers and pick live and I don't find myself having to adjust my EQ for each style, nor do I think each style sounds drastically different, certainly not for the audience. Why limit yourself to one or the other?

It's a wonderfully immersive listen but sadly relegates the bass to the centre speaker. Mind you, most of the 5.1 albums I've heard tend to do this. Edit: I'm thinking of the 5.1 release from about 15 years ago, could be a different mix to the blu-ray. -
