  1. ... which was recorded with a Fender Jazz and La Bella flats 😉
  2. I prefer the original with the upside down tuners. Unfortunately it's prone to ham-fisted restringing, like the poor Bass Collections
  3. I can't remember the exact ones on mine. Hofner flats with a dark green silk wrap. Lovely they are too! I should add that I didn't actually buy the strings myself - the bass was a gift from my Dad a few years ago, and on the advice of Thomann he also bought the strings, a hardcase and replaced the black knobs with Hofner teacups.
  4. I might be wrong but I think the Hofner flats are rebranded Pyramid Golds.
  5. Congratulations on the new bass. They're wonderful little things. I've had mine a few years now and it's the happiest instrument I own. I normally play with a trebly, distorted sound, so when I pick up my Hofner I'm about as far away from normal as I can be, but it's such a joy to play and the thump it makes is like nothing else. Mine wears Hofner flats and I've never had any problem with them. Mind you I want that massive bass thump from this bass - no need for top end or sustain here!
  6. This was a stonkingly good album. Napalm Death's Throes Of Joy In The Jaws Of Defeatism was magnificent also.
  7. Although it's wonderful to hear in isolation, in this instance the bass sounds exactly how I expected - it's not exactly tucked away on the record!
  8. I love him. I saw him when I was a kid with... Vikki Clayton I think? I seem to remember it was in support of the This Was Band but I might be mistaken. I remember Fred playing Toccata in D Minor. Blew me away. And on a Squier too! 😁
