  1. I'm going to go on with the Hipshot. It looks like others have used a couple of felt spacers to fill the gap caused by the archtop.
  2. Good egg! It does looks closer than the Hipshot.
  3. The Hipshot is here already! I'm in two minds about keeping it or exchanging it for the Babicz. I prefer the less brutal look of the Hipshot, but if the Babicz fits the body better... Andy - could you do me a favour and take a picture or two showing how well the Babicz fits against the arch of the body?
  4. Ooh, what one? I'm guessing not the Telecaster one
  5. Yes, definitely! It's quite something. The gold is next on my list! There's a red Anniversary model on Ebay at the moment if that's your thing... I was tempted. Actually, a case is next on my list. Good luck with that...
  6. Incidentally, I finally got to play the bass amplified today. It disguises itself as a refined, almost genteel instrument, but there's a growling beast hiding in there! It responds extremely well to distortion - I tried it with five different distortion pedals of varying ferocity and it loved them all. It's a bit of a cliché but it's a very honest tone - it sounds just like it's acoustic sound, only... amplified. My '51 Precision was similar but that had a looser tone, spiky and a bit wild. Absolute joy of a bass. I picked up my Rickenbacker after and it felt like a brick.
  7. It looks like you need to add a couple of foam spacers under the Hipshot to make up for the gap caused by the archtop. We'll see.
  8. Interesting... perhaps I was hasty buying the Hipshot.
  9. I've got a Hipshot on the way... does the Babicz leave a gap along the bottom edge?
  10. This is wonderful. Look how happy they are - especially John. Made me quite emotional!
  11. This thing is an absolute delight to play. Gorgeous neck, thick but very fast.
