And now it's mine! This description is spot-on - it can sound very like a Rickenbacker, very aggressive and growly. In fact I happily sold my Rick as the Guild did 'that' tone better, and is a much happier bass to play. GLWTS, these are glorious instruments. -

As @Marvin said, it depends on the bass. I've just bought a pink Squier VI and it's truly beautiful, but I don't think an Alembic (for example) would work in that colour. The only finish that's a definite no from me is silverburst - it's unforgivable.

I've tried a few bass wahs. My favourite by far is the Ibanez Weeping Demon - it screams. Most bass-specific wahs seem to do the Dunlop thing if just affecting the mids. Not the Demon! Very Call of Ktulu-style howls. I love it.
