What surprises me,is that James Lomenzo is in that video, with the pedal, why not get him to demo it and show how his settings actually sound. I always thought his demo of the Hyperdrive was really good, showing how he gets just a hint of drive to full on distortion. Ashdown, please just send one to Amos Heller so we can get a proper demo of it, put us out of our misery!

I find it really odd that these are showing as available on sites like PMT, yet there’s not a single demo of it anywhere online.

Who has a killer bass that they've neglected for one reason or another?

I can only assume that it’s because the neck dimensions are based on the neck from his P bass that he used for decades. -

Haven’t really played the Yamaha or Warwick at a gig for ages. Was mainly using a Sire V7 Vintage for most gigs, then the Spector came along and it’s pretty much all I use now. -
Barefaced and GK, win win!
-
Used mine at rehearsal last night. Spector Euro LX, Fusion 550 into Barefaced Big Twin 2, it just sounds so good!
-
Funnily enough after starting this thread, I stumbled across your thread. I had no idea this pedal had been announced back last year!
-
I tried one out and it quite liked it. I actually preferred it with just a small amount of drive, and all the way to the left on the alpha side. I ended up buying a second hand X Ultra instead as I liked the option to have the filters to fine tune the drive. Eventually sold that, I still have a Vintage Microtubes on my board but rarely use it tbh. For my drive tones now I either use the Lomenzo Hyperdrive or EBS Sheehan sig pedal. If I were to go back to DG for a pedal to use all the time, the AO would be my choice
-
That would be perfect!

Looking forward to hearing some demos of this. Was hoping they’d make a smaller version of the original, but I’m still keen to hear this new version

I’ve since replaced the sets in question with EB cobalts. I’ll definitely give DR’s another go and should the same issue occur, I’ll def take the same route and send them back to Amazon
-
I love DR’s but my last two sets of hi beams (both bought from Amazon) have had the same issue. E string dead within about 4 weeks. I emailed DR to inform them, they said they’d send me a couple of E strings but it never happened. Shame really, as I really like their strings

I guess when you post videos to YouTube, it’s such a vast audience that you’re bound to get someone who doesn’t like your content. I don’t mind Tims reviews and videos, he’s enthusiastic and he can play. In my case, it’s definitely true that now I’ve noticed the gurning I can’t not see it, but at least he’s having fun! Amos Heller is one of my favourite YouTubers, I like his demos and reviews
-
Apologies for that Lozz 😄
-
Once you notice the gurning and mouth noises, you can’t watch his videos without focusing on it 😂 As you say, im sure he’s a very nice guy, I’d just prefer to see someone else demo it, he works for Tech21 so he’s not exactly unbiased

I’ll be quite interested to see an in depth demo/review of the XB, preferably not done by Tim. Would like to see Amos Heller demo it

Absolutely phenomenal talent

Congrats on the new gig! I used my Spector Euro, also through a EBS Sheehan sig pedal, the GK, and into a Barefaced Big Twin 2. Sounded immense. These Fusion 550’s really are superb

Glad you finally found one and took the plunge. They are just fantastic amps.

Your best (and worst!) bass gear purchases of 2023?

I can confirm that it’s a wonderful combination! -

ern500evo replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
Best two purchases for me, my GK Fusion 550 and my Spector Euro 4 LX. Both have been on my bucket list for a long time. Glad to finally tick them off. Also honourable mention for the NUX mighty plug pro, fantastic little gadget for rehearsing at home. Worst purchase has to go to some DR Hi beam strings. Purchased two packs and on both sets, the E string was totally dead after one rehearsal and one gig. I did contact DR to make them aware, and they said they send me a couple of 105 E strings, but nothing came of it. Maybe I’ll chase them up about that -

It’s a fantastic piece of kit. I wanted one for years, ever since using one at a shared backline gig many moons ago. They just never came up used at the right time. Even this one came up when I’d not long bought an ABM 600, but I couldn’t let the opportunity slip. Best decision I’ve made. -

Jesus, I used this combo for the first time tonight, just blown away by how good it sounds. I have a Darkglass vintage Microtubes and a EBS Billy Sheehan signature drive pedal on my board (the original purple one), I only switched the EBS on for one song tonight, the rest of the set was just Spector, GK, Barefaced and it sounded sublime
