1. Hi Arnold, Stunning bass! Could you confirm the scale please (I'm sure 36'' is not a typo but thought the MG's are 33'') Also, could you let me know where you're based for collection? All the best, Andy
2. Second that ..... a fantastic instrument (and Adam is indeed a top bloke to deal with!)
3. Had a few of those myself yesterday and expecting to have a few more tonight!
4. Yesterday I found myself thinking about the 'What do you think about when you're playing thread' and wondering if Ritalin might help me keep my mind on the job in hand!
5. It's a new model .... to me it feels more like the Rumour than a Spitfire (in terms of a more compact body). Here's the 1st 5 string for you don't panic ... it's sold! (- now owned by Laurence Cottle I think)
6. Yes, I remember seeing yours - it is a beautiful looking instrument. I have the same dilemma but determined not to wrap this one in cotton wool ..... taking it out tonight for the 2nd time
7. Many thanks also to Jim Bryant for the great photos (way better than any I could take!) [email protected]
8. Just a bit ..... This bass is phenomenal! and the process of having it made has been a great experience ....... a completely personal service from one of the nicest blokes you'll ever meet.
9. The latest from Bernie - The GB Classic. It plays like a dream and has an incredible tone (as you'd expect from Bernie). Love it!
10. Haha! ..... I had the same dilema!
11. I had a quick look at this one at the Bass Gallery today - it really is quite stunning!
12. 'I usually take my GK MB500 and my Barefaced Compact to that gig'. Me too - I use a Barefaced One 10 and an MB Fusion - it all fits into a Cajon Backpack so I can carry it on the underground easily
13. Absolutely! I'd love to see Wal at the show alongside GB, Overwater and the host of other great UK luthiers ....... a UK room perhaps?? . It was fantastic to see them at the South East bass bash a couple of years ago.
14. it's an 80's thing seriously though would be great to see GB back there next year. I 'heard a rumour' (see what I did there!) that he has something new in the pipeline. I also bumped into Paul Herman from Wal on the weekend ...... would love to see a Wal stand at the show (but I guess with such a full order book it wouldn't make sense?)
15. I had a Rumour until recently and miss it already - it was a joy to play with a unique tone
16. Is yours a GB? Looks very nice from that shot whatever it is!
17. Great to know that I'm not the only one!
18. I was planning to go on Saturday only but there were so many good masterclasses that I went back yesterday as well. Joe Hubbard and Yolanda Charles were both completely inspirational. Scotts performance/session in the SBL room yesterday was fantastic. I really enjoyed Chris Childs masterclass as well - a great insight into his role as a gigging & session musician. Overall, a really great show (although I found it a completely humbling experience because it highlights to me how little I know and how basic my own skills are!!)
19. I've only had good experiences at the Gallery. It's an amazing place - just packed with a huge range of basses. They've always been more than happy for me to browse and try as much gear as I like (I've brought one or two over the years but I've spent way more time browsing than buying!) Most recently I was able to try out barefaced cabs in the shop and borrow their demo cabs while I waited for my new ones to arrive. I've always found Charlie and Martin to be really helpful and friendly
20. I remember Chris back in the 80's playing with Go West, Helen Terry, Andy Summers/Robert Fripp and doing regular session work for the BBC
21. I'm buying my ticket just to go and see Chris - he's an awesome player (and a top bloke!)
22.
PM sent
replied. Thanks Dan
23. I just bought Daniels Lull PJ4 - he's a pleasure to deal with. Thanks for a wonderful bass
