1. That's really... clever. But i'd rather just have a bass with 2 pickups .
2. I've got a year old set of D'Addario Chromes on my Jazz, they suit it wonderfully and have that lovely thump without being totally devoid of higher frequencies. I tried some Thomastiks on tonyf's fretless Stingray and they were lovely - very flexible and reasonably low tension in comparison to the Chromes.
3. Welcome back, hope things are going well. Are you still in a position to offer a cheeky discount to BassChatters ? I believe it was 5% ?
4. I think you're the only person on here with a Klystron... what do you think of it ?
5. It has been removed - dood check mods forum for details.
6. G&L basses are pretty well known - they're Leo Fender's last venture. Have a look here for some history: http://www.glguitars.com/
7.
Did you get one? At £170 it could be a world beater
I've been lazy with reviews in the last few weeks so will wait until i've got more time ! There's an interesting twist to my current review bass..
8. Should be ok then - I wouldn't (personally) gig it though.
9. So bi-amping with your MAG basically ? Personally I wouldn't do it - you're still sending a bass signal to the guitar amp which wasn't built to handle the lows (could easily rip the speaker cones at decent volumes).
10. I like the BBs but that looks horrid to me. It's like someone drunkenly played around in photoshop and then decided to put it into production too.
11. Yep they've had a compressor added, along with the Electric Blue range. Ashdown initially did this same thing a year ago but seemed to drop it for a (I assume) a QC issue. Looks like they've cleared it up now.
12. White perloid would look good there !
13. Welcome back. What's with the kisses !?
14. Hah ! I played that very bass 6 weeks ago. Beautiful instrument and you will be happy with it.
15.
Hmm... we'll see. By the way, what's going on with Ashdown's designs at the mo? A lot of the new stuff they're putting out looks awful...
It is a bit strange. They seem to be veering off-tangent from the typical head/cab designs we're all used to. Props for originality - but I don't think I'd ever choose a lime green / bright orange head.
16. http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/section.asp?section=labs Just spotted these on their site... they kept them quiet !
17. I think you'd do better selling the bass and then buying a car of your own choice ! Would likely stand a better chance that way.
18. I'll wait till it's in the shops in a week or so .
19. I'd love to do a review for you Dave, the VTX-400 would probably suit me best. I'm not in a buying position at the moment but it would be a bit of an insight for people who are. Let me know if you're interested. Matt
20. Yep.. a bit like a Fender Squier.
21. All StingRays are active, SUBs can be either.
22. http://www.stringbusters.com are cheapest for me.
23. I like them - have got some chromes (50-105) on my Jazz at the moment and usually put XLs (45-105) on the StingRay. I used to use Prosteels all the time but did find them quite coarse on the fingers plus they seemed to not have the same life that the XLs do.
24. I've played Kev's TRB a few times and it's lovely. Kev you should put the video up from the BBC recording for people to see it .
25. You know i'd relieve you of the TRB if I could .
