  1. I'm 'between' Handbox WB-100 valve heads at the moment. As soon as the gigs pick up again (pleeeeeeease) I'll be sticking my order in. Beautiful things.
  2. Basically: if it's true 4K, you can crop in up to 2x and still be in HD territory for the edit. Any more than that, and you'll begin to see degradation (see below). It's quite common practice with 4K footage to crop in to create faux secondary shots, even in the broadcast world.
  3. Ah, OK. Using the digital zoom on the 4K version should be less of an issue, I think.
  4. Does that mean it's not shooting true 4K...?
  5. I have no experience of the Q2N, but as an alternative the audio quality of the Q4N is (IME) decent. Don't expect anything like DSLR quality from any of these cameras - it's all a compromise somewhere along the line.
  6. They need to buy The Beatles Anthology and put that on. It's been gathering dust for too long.
  7. Sound is all about the brain interpreting vibration. It doesn't matter how it got there.
  8. Not sure that's the case...?
  9. If it was club gigs, I might have to use earplugs. Arenas? I'd be fine.
  10. I think I'm lucky in that I generally only work with musicians that know what they're doing, and it's a pleasure to listen to them without the need for IEMs (occasionally with earplugs if the drummer is a little on the enthusiastic side).
  11. Ha ha... or the sausages. Seriously though, I'm firmly of the opinion that Geddy's live tone has been a fizzy ball of tat since he binned the backline. Appreciate it may be a coincidence.
  12. Yet the sound has still been terrible.
  13. Most sound problems at gigs are: in big gigs, terrible venue acoustics, where the FOH guy / gal is on a hiding to nothing. Small gigs: The band are just too loud.
  14. Yes, the fundamental difference between going to a gig, and staying in the house and listening to his records. And I'm pretty sure if you did stay in the house and listen to his records, you're not listening to him play in an acoustically isolated and modelled cocoon. I worry about the future of music sometimes. Only sometimes, though.
  15. Would a more interesting line make it a better song?
  16. Yep, as far as QC goes, this one takes the crown. I hope they get to the root of the problem and don't brush it off, or they'll have to brace themselves for... well, you know the drill.
  17. I think you've answered your own question...
  18. You just have to keep looking until you find one. Or, if you want to be a little more certain, spec a Maruszczyk Jake with a chambered body. Mine weighs 7.2lbs, and balances perfectly.
  19. Hey gang Hoping someone can help me with a silly question. In the P wiring diagram below, what would be the effect - if any - of swapping the two connections highlighted? (i.e. cap soldered to the left tab, volume pot soldered to the middle) I know nothing about electrickery so be gentle 🙂 Thank you.
  20. You're not alone - it's a crap process. You need to log into the IK site, go to you account and then your products. You should be able to d/l it from there.
  21. Could someone do me a favour and play this - or the Stu Hamm thing - as background music on a first date, and let me know how you get on? Thank you.
  22. I think I must be alone in that this (and the Stu Hamm thing) make me want to pour superglue into my ears. What a racket!
  23. Just tried again, and it worked - less than 20 seconds to download for me...!
  24. Ta for flagging this. Just having a go at downloading it now. What a PITA the process is. Anyway, I'm now (I think) at the point where I can download it, but when I hit the download link I'm getting 403 - forbidden. I'll try later... it's for nowt so I can't really grumble.
