  1. Yes spotted that one. A proper bargain.
  2. Exactly the same here. I'm a big Steve Harris fan and that may be the reason that I first tried one, but I love the bass because of it's chunky neck and how it plays, not because of it being a signature bass.
  3. Quite possibly. I know a chap locally who could probably do one for me actually. Many thanks 👍
  4. No, it's just for that ability to quickly alter your EQ to suit a room without having to adjust the graphic. It's a very useful feature that I've used a lot on the SMX and previously on an SM too. I'll probably just hold out until another SMX pedal comes up for sale again. It's only for when I'm taking one of my older non-SMX TE heads out for a run.
  5. Once again, you're never too old! Welcome
  6. His main bass used to have the Blue Sparkle finish. It was then refinished in white with the pinstripes and West Ham badge hence the 2 different signature basses.
  7. Many thanks. Possibly a bit overkill for what I was thinking. It's more the EQ balance 'tilt' facility that I'm interested in than the compressor functions.
  8. I too am quite happy to be corrected on this. I initially thought the same (I even sold the 8ohm cab I had at the time and bought a 4ohm one). It was only after this that I was told that it would run quite happily into a single 8ohm cab.😟 EDIT - I've just checked back through my notes/emails. I was advised that running my Hexa into a cab at double the ohmage was fine, but anything more than that was not i.e. amp set to 2ohm running into a 4ohm cab would be ok (not that you would need to of course), amp set to 4ohm running into an 8ohm cab was ok, but amp set at 4ohm running into a 16ohm cab was a big no-no. Basically if you can't get a 1:1 amp-cab impedance then 1:2 would be fine but not 1:4
  9. Just thinking out loud on this one. I’m a big fan of Trace SMX models and one of their most useful features, the EQ Balance control. I know the SMX compressor pedal was made available with this feature, but I’m curious to know if any other pedals are available that have this simple EQ balance ‘tilt’ facility?
  10. I know nothing about flats and I too would like to give them a whirl on my P bass. Interesting that there is some love for Fender flats. EDIT - Scrap that. Looking at what's available it appears that the lowest gauge is 45 anyway
  11. Great cabs GLWTS
  12. Just completed another 'ickle transaction with Paul. An absolute pleasure as always. All the best
  13. Just to add to the above, a thick piece of foam will do the job too without adding any weight.
  14. A beautiful piece of kit - and recently serviced! 😍 GLWTS
  15. No problem. 👍 You'll find there’s a wealth of knowledge on here and lots of members who are only too happy to help (and whose help and advice I have gratefully received on many, many occasions).
  16. I'll just leave this here...... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Trace-Elliot-2x10-1x15-Speaker-Cover/264250800494?hash=item3d8693396e%3Ag%3AQp8AAOSwsupclTLV&LH_ItemCondition=2000|2500|3000|4000|5000|6000|7000
  17. Didn’t realise I had this too:
  18. Blimey. I'd sell mine if I thought I could get that much for it. 😂
  19. Hi Chris Congratulations on your incoming purchase. They're great amps. I'll try to answer some of your points/concerns and I'm sure others a little more knowledgeable than me will be along to further elaborate. Not sure regarding the fan. Mine had one (pictured) and you would have to assume that there was a reason that TE added one to later models, but others may have more knowledge as to why or at least the extent of any issues. If yours has survived this long I personally wouldn't worry about it. With regard to cabs, I too had some confusion/concerns when using valve heads. However as long as you are using at least the same or higher ohm cab/s there will be no problem although you may not be as loud i.e. using 1no. 8ohm cab with your amp switched to 4ohms won't be an issue Not sure why there's only the option of 2 or 4 but as above, going lower is more useful than going higher as most cabs are either 8 or 4 ohm i.e. you can use your head with 2no 8ohm cabs = 4ohm, or 2no 4ohm cabs = 2ohm I think my Hexa did have some feet but I had it in a rack case anyway. I imagine there will be pre-drilled holes for them I've never had a valve amp die on me so I'm not too sure of the symptoms (I do seem to remember strange whistling when a mates guitar amp went down)? There are however many suitable replacement valves available, mine had Ruby KT88 valves fitted (pictured) If you have a look in the 'Repairs & Technical' section there's a list of recommended amp techs A search online should be able to bring you these up. Any Series 6 GP12 user manual will suffice as they're the same operationally I've attached a page from an original TE brochure (I believe from '89-'90) showing the Valve range Enjoy!
  20. Agreed. I’m a big fan myself (my main amp is a 250SMX) but I do like to take a big old UV model out now and again. 😎
  21. ....... and a tad heavier in this bad boy.
  22. Just under 23kg by my scales, 2kg heavier than my MkIV AH250 that has the standard wooden case.
  23. I bought one of these to overcome power noise and power line interference at home and found an immediate improvement. May be worth having in your gig bag for those venues with such problems. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tacima-6-Way-Mains-Conditioner-black/dp/B00UB0G4DQ/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
  24. 😂 That’s what I keep saying. There’s actually a tidy 250 SMX on Gumtree at the moment. Not sure whether the buyer is willing to ship or not (in Scotland).
