2.
I would say this one finger thing is more of an urban myth. Jamerson was a trained double bass player, he would have needed slightly more than one finger. I am quite sure he used what ever fingers he required at the time.
Commonly (though not always) upright bassists use just the index finger.
 3. It also looks like a very light touch, no lifting the finger away from the string before stroking the string.
 4. I played through a Marshall 100watt valve head and two 4x12"s stacked at a rehearsal room recently. I didn't particularly like the sound. I certainly wouldn't buy or use for gigging.

 6. One finger playing was common and is not a limitation as long as you can play the line. One finger may be funkier. There have been many one finger or mostly one finger players. Watch Jack Bruce with Cream. Especially common amongst upright players converted to bass guitar. Tim Comerford talking about Geddy Lee and himself: 'When I'd go see Rush as a kid, I would wonder why Geddy Lee used one finger all the time. Did he do that because it made it easier to play while he was singing? I didn't get it. Later I realized that if you're just riding a note or trying to play a real straight part, it sounds more pulsating if you play with one finger. So I took every bass line and learned how to do it with one finger, and I started doing it that way as much as I could. Back then I thought I looked goofy, but now here I am using one finger whenever I can. One finger is ultimately the funkiest sound of all. If you can do it with one finger, you should. If you can do it with two finger, you should choose over three.'
 7. There's no copyright on bass lines or chord sequences, just melodies and lyrics and that's often unenforceable. Very little is wholly original. Don't borrow, but steal and make it your own.
 8.
I still prefer Flamenco WITH dancers and WITHOUT basses.
That's what Mrs ET said.
 9. Presumably
Is it the one in your pic?
I imagine so but it appeared now to be missing the pickup ashtray.
 10. Well, I saw the bass from the corner of my eye but the whole show was totally annoying and I won't be watching it again.
 11. OK got it.
 12.
Tonights one show, I was only half watching to be honest.
What channel is that?
 13.
Just watching there's a nice looking White P don't know if they've spoke about it though...
Is that on a TV programme? Is it actually Elvis's?
 14.
Calling essential tension.....
Helloooooooo
 15.
Thankfully, none of the above are in our set..
Ditto.
 16.
... I've heard that flatwounds are higher tension than other strings, and this can pull at the bridge ...
Some are higher tension, some aren't. I don't think the bridge is going to be a problem but if you're worried use some lower tension flats like TIs or black nylons from D'Addario or La Bella.
 17.
It's just a place for middle class hippies and hipsters to go 'crazy' for the weekend and tell their mates.
A bit like the Eurovision song contest?
 18. How many years has it been on the telly?
 19. I imagine it is to maximize acoustic volume. But just put the flats on, you know it makes sense.
 20. TU2 tuner and VT bass and that's it. I do have tremolo, chorus and reverb for my Bass VI but that's at home only.
 21. Rod Stewart, like him or not, does have a long record (no pun intended) of interpreting other people's songs (and making them his own) as well as writing his own. It was also true of the Faces, e.g. Maybe I'm Amazed, I Know I'm Losing You etc.
 22.
They'll be saying next that Sailing isn't a Rod original. Is nothing sacred?
If we must ... http://youtu.be/poDjuRlaNAg
 23.
I prefer Led Zeppelin's cover of Rolf Harris's Stairway to Heaven.
I read somewhere that Harris had never heard the Led Zeppelin (or any other) version and so learned the song merely from the sheet music as he didn't want to be influenced by anyone else.
 24.
Disagreed, very much so. Starting to feel quite lonely here in the pro-Cocker camp.
I like Cocker usually, and certainly liked the Grease Band but not that cover as the definitive version. I also don't get why anyone would think that every Dylan cover is better. Hendrix's version of Like a Rolling Stone is nothing on the Dylan version, IMO
