1. If I recall correctly, they were developed (or perhaps simply marketed) in Italy by Galeazzo Frudua, who does have some reputation for his boutique basses. I honestly have no idea how they sound.
2.
I only found out myself a few weeks ago. There's an American film with the same title, and apparently, if you're blessed with a bit of good luck, it's good karma to do something nice for someone else in return. We would probably have said "pass it on" before Americanisms took over.
Sorry lads, I did learn this language hanging around Americans, and I guess it reflects on how I word things sometimes—though a long stay in the British academia has forced me to reconsider my -ize spellings.
3.
PM'd
Aaaand, I think we have a taker with a nice project in mind!
4. I got this very nice fretless neck for free from Roman (of this board) and could not find the time to try it on my previous J. Eventually I got a proper fretless J and called it a day. I've had it on my desk for months and I figured it would be better if someone who actually uses it would have it. So, free to collect, possibly from North or Central London.

6. So, I was lucky enough to be the first to message CamdenRob when he posted his ad in this very board. Rob gave this to me with the implied understanding that I would pay it forward when the time came, rather than sell it on ebay for the equivalent of an ostensibly limited number of pints. Well, there you have it! It plays well, it's been loved and cared for. All is okay, except perhaps one fret is a bit lower than I'd like it to be with my crazy-low actions. (Most people cannot play my basses anyways, so it is unlikely anyone else will have my same problem.) At the moment, it's wearing a carbon-fiber looking vinyl wrap over the pickguard. Can be removed very easily, but I cannot be bothered at the moment. In any event, FREE BASS in N7, London. Pick up only. (Sorry, don't have much time these days.) There will be a strictly enforced FCFS policy. To have it you must satisfy [s]three[/s] four conditions: 1) You must be the first to PM me; 2) You must be able to pick up the bass today or in the near(est) future; 3) You must promise (to the whole of Basschat!) that, when you're done with the bass, if ever, you will pay it forward, either with the bass itself or otherwise; 4) Understand that I am off to brunch and might well be unable to read and reply to your messages until later today. Ready, set, go!

8. Hey gang, I found peace with an SG and selling this very nice strat copy. It's in good shape (some scratches and stuff, though not quite "battered") but plays very, very well. Pick up from London strongly preferred! Pics: http://imgur.com/a/dM2YC
9. I have the six string version of this bass. It's possibly the first instrument that has seriously made me doubt whether I was worthy of it. Have a free bump, and good luck with the sale!
10. Alright, I can't unsee this. I might PM you very soon.
11. Sooo, I'm bumping this up as I've recorded a short video: there is some weird compression going on due to Youtube, but then again... http://youtu.be/xsfIf1PBhMs
12. You guys raise some valid points. The neck is actually really nice, and I also like the fact that the radius is not as small as on many Fender and Fender-replacement necks. The fretwork is very nice too, and I am not at all bothered by the HB logo. This is mostly something I've been thinking about because I just can't seem to stay put... Woodinblack, my HB is in fact remarkably light—for an HB, perhaps. Granted, it's not the lightest bass I've owned, but it is much lighter than many others I've had. I think this time around the ash body makes a difference for a change. Paul, I'll try to take some measurements tonight and get back to you.
13. So, here's the thing: courtesy of CamdenRob, I've obtained a wonderful Harley Benton JB-75. It's a deko one, but I find it plays much better than many other fender-like basses I've owned. The one thing that troubled me—a low fret—was easily fixed and it is now a very well playing jazz bass. And yet, as a serial tinkerer, I have been thinking about replacing the neck one day, to fit something nicer and fancier—Status, if money is no object. I am perfectly aware this may sound crazy and not worth the trouble, but the body is gorgeous and light, and I like the Wilkinson pups alot. Why not, then? The heel measurements seem to allow the fitting of more or less any direct replacement, but I am lightly worried about the hole alignment. So, Q #1: has anybody tried fitting a Fender-replacement neck on a Harley Benton bass? And, Q #2: what should one do in case of non-aligned holes? (Of course, companies such as Warmoth and Status offer non pre-drilled necks, but you get the picture.) Thanks!
14. That's pretty damn cool! I've used my laptop as an effect processor since 2007 or so, but haven't gone about using Live for this kind of stuff yet. Kudos on that! I see you're using the Sonuus I2M. How does it work in terms of latency (for audio)? I assume it can't be used as an output device too, can it? Should you ever take the time to do a screencast to expose the inner workings of the whole thing, that would make me a very happy boy.
15. Just messaged the guy. Let's see what happens!
16. I agree. I've been playing with mine for some days and I found it to be a minor pet peeve. Granted, I normally don't care about changing settings on the fly – and if I do, I keep in active mode anyways. But that and, mine being a fiver, the 7.25" radius do bother me.
17. These are fantastic instruments. I have a six string BTB from the same series, and I would buy this too if it didn't clash with my GF's one-in-one-out policy. Have a bump!
18. Alright, I bought one too: In a nutshell: Dislike: the 7.25" radius, which makes no sense whatsoever in 2015, and even less on a 5 string. LIke: seriously, everything else. I really like having a tone knob. The rest of the preamp is cool, but I feel it is a bit to invasive. Sounds exceptionally good in flat, though, and I guess it can be a lifesaver in live situations. In any event, it really does play a tad too well for how much it cost.
19. Seriously, I am happy to pass it on. It's a nice bass and deserves to be loved and played. I should point out that I do not have a gigbag to go with it. Sorries!
20. So, since Basschat has been extremely kind to me in the past, I thought it was about time I tried and give something back to the community. I recently acquired a stunning 5-string Sire MM V7, and, since I also have another HB J (courtesy of CamdenRob) now have the dreaded first-world problem of having to many J basses in my tiny (well, first world gives, first world takes away) London flat. Therefore: free to a good home, my first HB. It wasn't a deko, but it might be at this stage. It has been repainted (by yours truly) and it is, for all intents and purposes, an amateur job, though it doesn't look half bad to me. In any event, a vast improvement on the ugly sunburst it had originally. It does play very, very well, and I believe a beginner (or anyone in need of a JB, to be honest) would enjoy this a lot. You will have the pickguard too, and not a 3-ply black one, unless I don't manage to swap it with the one I have on the other HB. It is, after all, my GF's masterpiece. The bad: I don't have a soldering iron and they are thus re-attached with copious use of duct tape. (They do work well.) But then again, free bass! The fretjob is very, very good and the truss rod works flawlessly. Everything's pukka. Additional freebie: I also have a fretless neck, which I got for free from Roman, here on BC: I am sure he won't mind me passing it on. It has a paddle headstock, which can be refinished easily, and it seems very nice to me, though I haven't bothered fitting it on the bass. (Well, I saw it does fit in the neck pocket, but I haven't screwed it in.) I'll try to add some other pictures later I had originally thought about giving it to some charity or music school, but I feel like this is more of an ongoing DIY project and someone in possession of, say, a Dremel and a soldering iron might enjoy it a lot. That being said, I am in London, pickup from N7 at reasonable times would be greatly preferred. And, again, thanks Basschat! We ♥ you!
