1. Selling an Ibanez AEL20MGB semi-acoustic. I've had it for around 6 years from new and I believe this model has been discontinued and replaced by the AEL20E which seems to be exactly the same. The new model sells at GuitarGuitar for £270, as you can see here. It's a great guitar and sounds really full and sweet due to the large body and Fishman/Ibanez pickup. I'm a bass player and got this the year before leaving home for uni, where it has lived unused ever since. I think it was maybe gigged once in the time I used it, and sadly has a wee ding in the corner of the headstock. You can see this in the picture below. I'm just looking for £100 for this for a quick sale. Rent is sneaking up on me and I'm getting worried. This guitar can be picked up or delivered anywhere in Glasgow. Also willing to post elsewhere via courier.
2. I use the K&K Bass Master Pro which is a combination of the BassMax and the Double Big Twin. I find the BassMax gives me an ok sound, my bass needs a bit of work and some new strings so hard to know what it would be like on a great bass, but when I turn up the Big Twin past around a quarter I find the sound way too boomy and more susceptible to feedback when going through an amp. Maybe I don't have it set up right, but I don't think this pickup on its own would be that great.
3. Bump. Really just looking for a straight sale or a trade for a small-ish combo now. I'm f***ed for money so not gonna be able to replace my broken amp head. Everything goes wrong at the same time.
4. Don't have a cover I'm afraid. Never had the money to get either a proper Aguilar one or a custom job. RE: It getting knackered, there are a couple of nicks on the bottom where its been placed in the back of our van but really nothing major. I had arranged to get a flightcase for it but thats unfortunately no longer on the agenda. This cab is still in storage at our practice space so I will get some photos as soon as I get it back after a gig tonight.
5.
You are no dick. I have had a listen and you are right. Sounds like the G# is doubled up. Feels a bit busy, but I'm probably used to playing the triplets!
Yeah, I've got loads of tunes like that. If I've maybe learnt it by memory then hear it after months of playing it the same way and think "So THATS what it goes like!"
6. Not trying to be a dick but I don't think its a triplet on the 4th beat of a lot of the bars there. It sounds very clearly like four semiquavers. Big fan of Bruce Thomas' work with the Attractions, particularly the stuff on This Year's Model and Armed Forces.
7. Bump. Another price drop. £400. This is the lowest I can go. I'm already losing close to £150, I just need to pay my rent.
8. Cheers Chris. This is still looking for a home. Ideally I'd love a trade with something smaller, but will drop the price to £425 for now.
9. That's totally pish man. Agree with WoT about the solo at the start too, it's all over the shop :s
10. Sunday bump. Used this cab, possibly for the last time, last night. Sounded great as always, just need something a bit smaller for the purposes of getting a train or bus to gigs.
11. Thanks chaps! Someone help me pick up the pieces of my shattered dreams. Yeah!
12. Due to a record label f*** up, I have just lost a load of touring work I had lined up for the rest of the year. As much as this is enraging, I have to get on with trying to get other work, albeit smaller gigs and smaller venues. Therefore, this cab is just too big for what I'm going to be doing. I traded it with fellow user Me and My Bass for a Markbass Traveller 2x10 back in April and have used it for a number of gigs since then, it has always sounded amazing. I love this cab and I'm gutted to have to move it on, it's just not feasible for me to keep it without any transport. I'd really like to trade for something smaller and lighter, perhaps something neo but not too important. I like Gallien Krueger, Ampeg, Epifani and Aguilar (DB210 or DB112 would be a perfect trade for me). If anyone is looking for a great 4x10, and doesn't have a problem with a slightly heavy cab, then I can highly recommend this. There are a couple of photos on Chris's old thread here, but I can put some more recent ones up here over the weekend. I would also consider trading for a small 1x12 or 2x10 combo. Anything considered! Cash price would be around £400. It was bought new at the start of the year I believe from GuitarGuitar in Glasgow by Chris himself, gentleman that he is.
13. I just got back off a cruise gig. There was a thread a month or so ago about this with some more thoughts. You can check it out here
14. EXACTLY what I'm looking for. I hate being skint
15. Wish I could afford this at the moment. Rent, council tax and leckie came out the same week so I'm rooked. Exactly what I'm looking for after just trading my small cab for a big one. Would come in so handy for smaller gigs, especially with the upright. Blast.
16.
4. you will get drunk a lot 5. you'll put on weight as a result
These two are exactly correct. I ended up going to the gym everyday for the last 3 weeks of my contract, it still wasn't enough to tackle the beer gut I'd already amassed though.
17. I just got back from my first cruise contract last Friday. Did ten weeks in the Caribbean with a guest band on a P&O ship and really enjoyed it. I'm 22 and just graduated from uni last year so felt it was a good time to try it. I mostly play in original bands back home, but have a wedding band on the go at the weekend to pay the bills, so it was a big learning curve for me being dropped into a lot of strict tempo ballroom music aswell as the usual pop stuff we were doing. It dawned on me very quickly that I hadn't been keeping my reading up to scratch since I left uni either, but after a couple of weeks I'd settled in ok. If anyone is considering it, I'd say it's definately worth giving a go. I don't think I would make it my career at this point in time, but maybe in a few years if other things don't work out and I find myself with not very many commitments I'd love to give it a go again. We were basically the dance band so didn't have to back many cabaret acts, but I imagine that'd be a really beneficial thing to be doing, and would stop the material you're playing becoming stale.
18. I went to see lostprophets one year (2002, i was young) and one of the guitarists tried to do this, smacked himself right on the back of the head when the guitar didn't swing round properly, threw his guitar down on the stage and stormed off in the huff. It was f***ing amazing. The singer picked up the guitar and pretended to play, by the looks of it he obviously had no idea. It was a good moment.
19. That's amazing. Always meant to check out the Tribbett brothers stuff but never got round to it. Now I definately will. Good choices with the other vids too, that EWF tune is a beezer.
20. Yeah. As you can read here the California Series was split between their factories in Corona, California and Ensenada, Mexico. This changes the situtation price-wise quite a bit. Really, I'm just looking to pay my rent and unfortunately this has to go, as lovely a guitar as it is.
21. After doing a bit of reading up (and with the help of a member of this forum, cheers!), I've realised that my price was way too steep. Would be very happy with offers between £250 and £300, but still also looking for a 5 string bass.
