1. I've tried all the settings and I'm 99% sure it's got a fault. By the time I transport it to a tech and get it repaired I suspect it's cheaper to replace it. GAK are doing the Peavey Max 112 for £125 delivered and it has a CD/MP3 input and may cope with low volume band practice. I don't need all the FX either. Peavey are usually ultra reliable too. Peter
2. Cheers Steve and if you're ever passing through Kendal there's a cuppa and loadsa basses.
3. I just wondered if I'm missing something obvious here. I've had a Roland Cube 30 for a few years now and it's been a great little practice amp with aux input for the Tascam MP3 and headphone socket. I noticed that the lower strings were sounding a bit 'warbly' through it the other day and suspecting the bass battery tried 3 different basses all of which were the same. I've made sure none of the 'models' are on and that the FX knobs are zero'd. I've tried new leads, removing the Peterson tuner from the i/p, EQ is flat, compressor is off, I've removed the Tascam and even tried it on headphones but the 'warble' remains. It's really bad/unuseable through headphones. Any ideas? Maybe it's just knackered. Where's that thread re Line 6 practice amps again? I'd use my rig but no headphones and 500W might make annoy my neighbours in the flats a little. Am I missing anything obvious? Peter
4. I didn't fully appreciate the Sadowsky at the time Steve. I'd love to try one again now
5. Yo, is this still available? Peter
6. Stunning basses, my Spector has shed new light on Streamer II's. Peter
7. I've had an explore and could only find them for well over £2,000. Peter
8.
Not sure his father in law was ever as enthusiastic about him as most of us on here!
If he treated my daughter as badly as he evidently treated his I'm not sure I'd be a fan either
9. Al Have a word with Alan at ACG. He may be able to help. Peter
10. I saw them in both the Johnny the Fox and the Jailbreak tours. Absolutely blew me away. I've a photo of the man here: Taken in the week it was unveiled. Shame it wasn't the real thing.
11. One of these was my 1st bass. I keep looking for another too.
12. And that Sir is one very fine bass.
vintigalate
Now that's a word to wrestle with I tend to use either the Spector or my Warmoth Darkstar/ACG. There's a huge contrast that the Spector has only served to excentuate but then again the Warmoth is hardly mid spectrum.
13. It surely is Sean. These are such playable basses. Sure there is some music that they aren't perhaps best at complementing but for all round modern cutting through tones they are brilliant. Mine feels like a third hand already. Peter
14. I have seen it before John but it's immense. The comb over and 50's attire are just so incongruent with the slappin' I bet Reg fired him cause he stole the limelight.
15. They had a couple in the BassMerchant in Colchester. One, a NT looked particularly nice and the price was really good too.
16. Comfort Strapps in orange. Now that would be different.
17.
Do you want me to track David Heap down.....
Dave is an old friend of mine and I'll try getting hold of him
18. I love the colour! Good to have something to brighten things up. Another grey day here.
19. Cheers Mike you posted as I was replying. I wasn't sure that the given levels for the LH pre output were 'line' but evidently so. Learning all the time
20. Well not for the 1st time I can answer my own question. I'll put it here for the benfit of anyone that comes along. The pre on the LH500 includes EQ, limiter and volume before the FX out. Using FX out to the line level input on the Pro does work with the BassPOD output feeding back in to the LH power amp but the whole thing sounds better with the bass going into the BassPOD and just using the power amp on the LH via the FX loop return. The LH volume then has no effect and it's all down to the settings on the BassPOD. Peter
21. I've got a back up amp (Hartke LH500) and I'm looking at pairing it up with the BassPOD XT Pro that I got from Anndra (Lysdexia). Now conventionally I would input the bass (signal level) into the front of the Pro and take the analog 'model' o/p into the FX return of the amp bypassing the pre, EQ and limiter. The Pro manual stresses not to put the analog out into the amp pre as it's too hot. (I tried carefully with my Cube 30 and it's definately a no no). So have I got it right here? Is an amp's FX loop generally between the pre amp and the power amp? If this is the case can I input through the amp's pre as per normal and take the FX loops out and run it into the back of the Pro as a 'line level input'? (0dB to 4dB from the LH manual) and then take the Pro's analog o/p back into the LH FX loop in for feeding to the power amp? I'd rather use the nice valve pre on the amp. Peter
22. Many thanks Eddie. I'm a thinking that I would be Basschatter X My 4 string ACG Harlot is looking good for Monday! Weyhey!! Keep well and no apologies needed. Nice to help sort out the passage of a great bass from one fine gent to another. Peter
23. Did someone say something? pm to you Ped
