1. I have always used Gibson USA straps http://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/shop/view_p...uct=gbsasgsbu20 They are soft and thin but strong. I like to be able to slide the bass around on my shoulder. Leather ones pull your clothes when you try and move your bass. I occasionally chuck my bass behind my back if I'm just singing and this helps give me a bit of freedom. Oh and I use schaller straplocks, http://www.giggear.co.uk/p/Schaller-Strap-Locks/
2. I have use an Audio Technica UHF Wireless system for a few years now. It has worked flawlessly. It has a single fixed frequency, but our microphones are changeable so it was never a problem. It is rack mountable and has a bodypack transmiter. You also get gain on the front and a squelsh control on the back If you're interested, I'm selling it as I need cash for a new amp, see link http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=39579.
3. What about the other way around... Would it damage your bass/amp using speaker cable instead of a guitar cable to plug in your bass?
4. I have one that hangs two guitars/basses. It's great, but now our guitarist doesn't bother bringing a stand so and just uses mine instead! Awesome stand though. My bass fell off once, but I don't think I'd put the neck in the jaws correctly. Didn't damage the bass but did put a dint in my living room floor
5. thanks. Thats crazy. A mute button that doesn't mute!!! LMAO
6. I'm thinking of buying a new amp but was unsure about cabinets. E.g. If I buy a markbass amp, is the markbass cabinet designed to sound better with their own brand of amp. I'm thinking of getting an Ashdown amp but like the markbass cabinets weight! How much of a difference will I notice between an Ashdown ABM 210 cabinet and a Markbass Traveller 210 (102) cabinet? Am I better spending 50% Amp, 50% Cabinet, or would you spend more on one than the other? I already have access to a Trace Elliot 115 cabinet. It's quite old, but still sounds OK to my ears. How will it sound compared to buying a new cab? Lots of questions.....
7. I played one of these the other day (LG350) and thought that it sounded great. Excellent value too. Played through an Ashdown MAG 115 cabinet. It beat the pants of a MAG300 head for tone, but didn't quite compare to the tone of the ABM head (in my opinion). EQ was easy to use, despite freaking me out at first glance. The shape presets were good and gave it warmth My one disappointment was the quality of the front panel. It all just seemed cheap plastic. I'd worry about breaking it!
8. I am wanting a new amp and my top 2 choices are an Ashdown ABM500 EVO III head and a Markbass LMII. I've been and tried the Ashdown out and really like the sound. Am planning to go and A/B the two amps at the weekend. I have to travel further to find a Markbass stockist near lincolnshire. Off to Doncaster. Which would you get and why? [I'm disappointed that the LMII doesn't have a mute switch, as this is a pretty basic function that I use all the time. Maybe it's not as needed for a gig, but I play in church and need to mute to tune and mute when we finish playing etc.]
9. I am having a clearout of my current bass gear to save up for a new amp.... (apologies for the phone pics, better pics to follow...) Trace Elliot Boxer 15W practice amp. Great little practice amp, hardly used + mint condition. Cool green/black look. Cost >£150 new. I'd like £60 for it. Behringer Bass V-Amp Pro Rack mount effects processor. massive connectivity. Stereo DI w. Cabinet simulator. Effects and Amp simulations. Built in tuner. Good condition, some scuffs on rack ears but has always lived in rack case. One switch is damaged, but all it does is switch between the front and rear jack inputs, so it doesnt really get used. Basically, you need to plug your bass in the front only. Cost about £130 new. I'd like £60 for it. SKB 4U ATA Rack Case Reasonable condition. Has some scuffs from being transported with other PA gear. Front rails only. Ideal for effects etc, would probably just about fit an amp depth in, but could check for you. £40 Audio Technica UHF Wireless guitar system. Rack mounted reciever, body pack and guitar lead, power pack. Built in DI and unbalaced outputs. Squelsh settings. The usual. Fixed Frequency. Cost £160 new, was ex display. Would like £100 for it as it is in excellent condition. I live in Louth, Lincolnshire. Collection preferred, but I'll arrange postage for a reasonable price.
