    Fender 9050s or D'Addario Chromes are always a good starting point. GHS Precision Flats or La Bella DTB for something a little darker.

    I would go for the VT. Best of both worlds with the pups and would compliment a TM quite nicely.

    I can't even tell you how many plonkers on Gumtree don't understand 'Cash on collection - pickup only - no shipping'.

    They're brighter, hence treblier, so bum notes will stand out more. Give it time and they will lose a little brightness or just turn down your tone knob slightly.

    Too many times have I had a bass player awkwardly shuffle up to me and ask to use my amp just before they go on. I hand them a DI box and say, "Enjoy!".

    I used to have that amp - you'll be surprised at how much grunt it has for its size. Lightweight too. I would try and get the seller down to 300.

    I've played a couple of Tribute JB-2s and they are fantastic instruments for the money. A P body with a J neck and two classic sounding J pups. Can't go wrong really.
